I’ve driven through this canyon several times over the years it’s totally a show stopper,
Beware even on a calm day at the coastal regions a gale force wind is present.
Again this wasn’t no disappointment opening the car door … or I should say holding onto the door the way no hits you.
Even in the new allotted car parking viewing areas the wind is ever present.
Don’t let it detract the views top to bottom are ace

We were traveling to Plakias Beach and we passed through Kotsifou Canyon while driving to Plakias. It was a big surprise for us to see this beautiful Canyon. A wonderful place to visit. Don't miss it....

I came here with friends on coach trip and the views were stunning. If you come here drive slowly so you can take in the views. Just bear in mind the roads at times can be very narrow and some are near the edge of a sheer drop. I would come here again. Recommended.

This gorge / canyon is good, but not on Kourtaliotiko canyons level.
It has a great little church next to the road that is worth to check out. Bring some euros so you can burn a candle and say a prayer for your loved ones

Sorry for the bad photos- it was after sunset

Nature in May is amazing. Flowers are blooming everywhere, which makes the road up to this point a real pleasure.
Also, there's anice tiny church where you can lit a candle and have a moment if you want. Maybe not a place to go off route, but a beauty on your way someplace else.

What a memorable drive along this valley. Incredible views. Especially the brightly flowering bushes growing on the hillsides. We saw few other cars on the road and we had the whole valley to ourselves. Beware of routes that your GPS may suggest that would take you over poorly maintained roads and small rock slides. That happened to us and it took us 30 minutes to get back on a main road. Not a good place to have a car breakdown.

We were travelling to The Castle of Frangokastello and beach on the opposite side to Rethymno where we were staying. We came across this Canyon by mistake while we were driving and we were so surprised to see this beautiful Canyon. After that we drove a little bit down to the other side of the canyon and we saw a beautiful little church next to the rock face near to the Canyon. Before getting to the Canyon we had to drive down a winding road and this then lead us to the beautiful Canyon of Kotsifou. We took lots of pics and it was so nice to see and the landscape was so cool.

On the way to our resort we drove around the corner and suddenly found ourselves in this great scenery. Really impressive and just wonderful. The roads are good and there are few stop points to take amazing pictures. I really loved to pass the canyon - again and again!
