Great surprise

We (couple of mid lifers) found this to be a comfortable, pleasurable , trendy Beach club, suitable for patronage of all ages, sizes, ethnicity’s, couples, groups, families. Loved it’s unpretentiousness.
Large car park, (might be improved by more shaded areas).
Well kept WCs and shower rooms, regularly serviced.
Spacious venue. Funky music booms out , comfortable sun beds and cabanas , plenty of natural shade , fabulous large pool, kids pool and pool slides (weren’t in operation when we visited), great beach area (with change cabins),
Good choice of eating options, from fresh sarni/coffe kiosk, bar food, and alfresco dining. Prices we found were an average of the island .
We dined alfresco , the food quality was great, the service even better. We enjoyed so much, we decided to go just for lunch enroute to airport. (Late flight).
When we first visited the Beach Club, we had no idea what to expect, we were greeted by a very friendly chap, who gave us a warm welcome , fully explained the set up and costs, and a brief tour. We thought the costs for sun beds and cabanas were reasonable for the standard of the resort and what it has to offer. We went 3 times each time same quality of service from all of the ground staff. We would definitely return if staying in Rethymino again.
Note this review is based upon a quieter time of the season , mid to late September.

A relaxing day at Baja Beach Club that needs a renovation though...

This club already suffers over four years of deferred maintenance and substandard cleanliness of the bathrooms. Also, a clogged drain of one of the outdoor showers near the pool, and broken loungers in plain view, an abandoned bar with junk behind it, and so on. This place needs a renovation to look like the photos on their website. I can advise to make the club more compact, consider adults only, put the prices up a bit and consider getting a better chef to cook more value for money. We were there on a semi-clouded and windy Thursday, and only about half of their capacity was used. Lots of families with young children near the pool, so I was happy to have ordered a gazebo near the beach at a reasonable distance from the bar, where the volume of the music increased as the day progressed. Too loud after 4 pm, and we were quite a distance away. No complaints about the service as other visitors have noted. Overall, we had a great day, so still 4 stars, but probably more like 3.5... invest in renovation and scale down, quality instead of quantity!

Beach club day

We had great day at Baja. We hired the canopies which worked out approx 30 euro each between 6 but you got a bottle of water and prosecco provided, as well a plate of fruit. There were also cheaper sun bed options available. The pool area was very busy so if you are not a fan of this I would suggest getting beds toward the back near the beach like we did. Food was great and well priced. Good music playing. Only downside was toilets didnt feel the cleanest and most of them didnt lock.

Overrated - Avoid at all costs

Staff isn't attentive at all, they gave as wrong info and then asked for 60 euros fee (sheesh). Food and drinks are overpriced. Pool was full of bugs. Beach is better litterally anywhere else in Rethimno.

AVOID at all costs!

Don’t let the professional photos fool you! This place is a dump. Filthy bathrooms, no toilet paper, paper towels or hand soap, no lights in any but one of the women’s stalls. A room with open door on the steps down to the showers and toilet looked like it had been open for years with broken supplies, leaves, dirt piled up. The pool had tons of bugs and dirt in it. When we were taken to our 100 euro cabana, we had to pick up trash that was all around it rather than look at it all day. The bar area physically, has never been finished with old raw chipboard as facade. When I complained with some strength to the manager about the conditions of the property, he told me that I had to understand it was their first day open since COVID. I told him that was certainly no excuse for the horrid conditions, that they had all year to clean it up and shouldn’t have opened if they weren’t ready. He continued to defend and argue and I told him that I was sorry, not only was it just pain unacceptable but that I just spent 10 days at Stella Island and kind of had a standard to hold up against this. He told me, “then go back to Stella Island”! About 15 mins later he came to us all humble and apologetic and agreed it was not good and gave us an upgrade on the Prosecco we were supposed to get and some free food. BUT, a few hours later I went to the bathroom/shower again and the only thing that had been done is a jug of soap was put on the counter and rolls of toilet paper were placed on top of the dispensers. Used dirty TP on the floor now because no one there to empty the cans. The ONLY thing good about this place was the music. AVOID!!!

Don't bother

We gave this beach a go based on the website's slick look. It does not deliver what it says. It is also way more tired than than the pictures portray. The bathroom are filthy, dark, majority of lights don't work so you're in darkness (doesn't take a genius to change a bulb or many bulbs in this instance). The staff are alright, just not a switched on service. We ordered food from the beach guy who omitted to inform us that we would need to go to the bar to pay and pick up the food. We therefore were waiting for ages for something that was never going to come. The beach menu is somewhat basic and doesn't offer much greek choice so we reluctantly ordered the ever boring club sandwich. It is to date the worst club sandwich we have ever had, soggy bread, with some coleslaw inside for some strange reason. They charge €15 for beach sunbeds, which in itself is not outrageous by European standards but it is also not exactly the most luxurious beach club you'll find. The beach area is nice and spacious, sunbeds are comfortable. That's about the only nice thing I have to say. You will find far better beach clubs such as Cabana Beach, East of Chania and they don't charge for beds if you order drinks or food and food is way better there. Or try a more rustic experience on one of the south coast beaches for clear blue water in secluded coves.

A polished turd.

The cabana was amazing value for money. €85 for 7 of us, 4 beds and a sofa area + Prosecco, fruit and water. The pools were really nice too and the bar area.
It’s just such a shame that with a few changes this place could easily be 5*.
Problems include; terrible slow service, very bad watered down alcoholic drinks, no food served past 6pm and the most disgusting toilets we encountered in the whole of Greece.
Urgh. So annoying when places have such great potential but don’t just change the small things that make the big difference.

Great day

Our villa company Etouri arranged passes for our group of 8 at the end of August. On arrival we were shown to a superb gazebo on the beach with sofas and comfortable sun beds with complimentary towels. We had a superb day. We ordered a light lunch and the food was reasonably priced well presented and tasty. Drinks were reasonably priced and we were entertained with the music playing all afternoon. Service was exemplary Fast and efficient but not intrusive. Could not fault it all and we will definitely visit again when we return to Crete

Worst aperolspritz ever

We had stopped by to finish our lunch (which was fine by the way) and share a couple of drinks. Unfortunately after trying 2 times we and apparently they gave up to receive/provide appropriate Aperolspritz.
They just simply didn't understand what does it mean to have bubbles in the drink. What made it even worst is the attitude which was obnoxious and cynical at the same time.
Sorry to waste such a good location especially at times when all clients should be appreciated.

Baja Beach review

A very good beach club which gives you fun, good music and good vibes.
Music is perfect for dancing and relaxing.
It's definitely one of my top favorites on crete.
Service is very pleasant and helpful ( always smiling and in a good mood ).
There's nothing you can't get here.
one goes to all desires.
A big thank you to vasilio, who explained everything perfectly (there are so many ways to spend the day here and he was so nice and took us on a little tour and told everyone about the club).
don't hesitate and come over.
You'll have your best time here for sure
