Sad that this is featured on many postcards but is easy to miss and has been swallowed up by commercial outlets. Not much left of ancient Rethymnon.

Next to a great bar/restaurant, El Galero. Great for people watching. People cooling their feet and hands in the fountain and having photos taken

This fountain dates to 1626 during the period of Venetian rule. Its located in the old town and was constructed to have drinking water available to the residents. The columns, lions heads spigots and troughs are nice features but there was no water flowing. Great...More

Ok, it is a tiny fountain. But the people seem to be very interested and make a tons of pictures. It’s worth to buy an ice cream and sit down and watch the people passing by and making pictures. Funny.

Assuming you can find it, this fountain is tucked round the back of the side streets. We walked past the street where it is located a couple of times before we spotted it.

I wouldn`t make a special trip to see it, it is quite small, a lot of people were letting their children climb and play on it

Small, pretty but unremarkable fountain which was not flowing. Worth looking at if you are nearby and like architecture, but not worth making a special trip. The old town as a whole is lovely and well worth several wanders.

as this appears in all the guides was expecting it to be more of an attraction but managed to walk past without spotting it the first time, probably to busy looking in the jewellery shop opposite
