Old Venetian port is the nicest location in all Rethymno in my opinion. Although is crowded also is free of Chinese souvenirs and allow to admire natural facades of old buildings. Lot of bars, restaurants and cafes. Nice place for beer or coffee

A very quaint harbour to relax and do some people watching. It was quite busy when we went in October so is a bit of a tourist trap. The promenade leading to the harbour was being renovated when we were there and it definitely looks like it will improve the walking experience no end.

It is really beautiful with a bay clear as day full of fish! We went to a lovely restaurant the 7 brothers. The only thing I. Didn't like so much is to push people on to your terrace. I understand but just let me look at your menu first.

Lovely Venetian harbour, though not quite as pretty as Chania port and harbour.
Visited Rethmyno, Chania, and Heraklion whilst staying in Crete.
Rethmyno and Chania are the best by far.
I’d recommend staying this end of the island for your holiday to Crete.

Worth going to see but I highly recommend to eat in the small streets behind the harbor, since the prices at the harbor is sky high :)

Stopped on our way back to Chania from a visit to Knossos and really enjoyed walking around the lovely harbor. The end by the fortress was even more picturesque than Chania's harbor and glad we took the time to enjoy the end of the day here.

A not-to-be-missed part of Rethymnon, with rich history and heritage, close to the Venetian Fortezza.
We stopped by, after visiting the Arkadi Monastery. A convenient car park close by the ferry port area, hosted our car for a few hours.
Renaissance-style Venetian architecture, charmingly strike your sight.
Beautiful small harbor, narrow streets, taverns and various shops wait to be explored.
While strolling and browsing, we enjoyed an exquisite gelato and we landed a deal in a great jewelry store.
Under the protection of gorgeous silver Greek eye, freshly acquired, we truly enjoyed a memorable evening.
We left the magnificent Egyptian lighthouse in the background, on our way back to Cretan Dream Royal.

Loved Reythumnon totally. We have visited Crete previously, however, I should warn travellers about some of the excursion companies, particularly KladosTravel who employ at least one rude and impolite German male tour guide.Just the usual rude arrogance as I expected.

If it was possible to just look at the Venetian Harbour I might have enjoyed it. But the restaurants have taken up so much of the relatively small space that there is only a narrow gauntlet to walk along - complete with very insistent waiters, one after the other, telling you how much better their place is than the one next door. All are very expensive compared to other good places we ate at, and you never see a local there. I know folk have to make a living but, hell.
The Old Town is a far more interesting and attractive place to eat, and cheaper if you shop around. Would I recommend spending time at the Venetian Harbour? Sorry, no.
