About
The Park has the concept of a rich biodiversity ecosystem of Crete. The visitors are guided though the rich wild vegetation of the park with the plants of Cretan traditional cookery, the aromatic medical herbs, the beautiful wild flowers from Crete and a lot of animals that live in this ecosystem. Crete with 10% endemic species gave a reasonable target to create this non profit park, to show the exotic flora and fauna of our island.

It is very nice place to visit if staying somewhere close to Rethymno. Volunteers told us many interesting things about plants and few animals. The way up is short but not very easy , so better to go early in the morning. Though I very recommend to go it through at least on the way down, as it has many nice trees and plants on the way. Alsi the view from the park is very nice.

We were given a guided tour by Rebecca (from Dundee). The volunteers are all really enthusiastic and genuinely friendly. We enjoyed a tour around the gardens. Lots of snippets of interesting information about local plants and animals. Spent about an hour there and really enjoyed it. Good luck Rebecca on your return to Scotland. Suggest take some mossie spray.

A quaint little place near Rethymno. The tour is offered by volunteers and we found it interesting as they showed us local flora and fauna. We were offered refreshments and our guide was a lovely man from Mexico (sorry, I didn't get your name), who spoke good English. Not expensive and a break from the beach. Lovely place for a drink and some food afterwards, overlooking the sea and the city.

After a pretty exhausting stroll we got to the park and it was pretty much what it says on the tin. Smallish and not exotic but just lovely strolling about with a really sweet and interesting guide. Everyone left happy. Obviously it's not super polished but it's really interesting and just very nice. Our five year old loved it.

This is a lovely little nature reserve which is maintained by volunteers, who will guide you through a small trail showing the native flowers and fauna of Crete. There is a small collection of rabbits and lizards. The key is here is not to expect too much - it's not an adventure park, or a theme park - best to take your time, ask questions and listen and you can learn a lot.

There is also what is thought to be a very early inhabited cave.

If you are unsteady on your feet the pathways can be rocky and the trail is by no means structured - you walk at your own risk, so might not be suitable for elderly or people with difficult walking but really, it's not a problem.

For photographers and people who enjoy a good view, climbing to the top of the trail and a little bit beyond offers a beautiful panoramic view of the snow covered mountains that surround, the town and the sea below.

Well worth the visit considering the small voluntary donation, and it's worth keeping this lovely little space going by donating.

I am sorry but i cant give you any more i thought the experienec horrible. i saw the folders and though oh sounds wonderfull, wildlife and lizards and snakes. herbs and plants... when i got there there were what i felt was a hippie compund with a 50m long trail where there was some bushes with herbs. a cage with geckos and a snake pit with a boa constictor. This is not anything i reccomend, boiling in the sun to go watch. if you want a experience goto botanical garden of crete outside chania instead.

An ambitious and hardworking nature lover.
By visiting this rough diamond you will get stories about Cretan endemic species, local area development and great fellowship.
Michalis is a passionate man, who in his own way, helps nature. His team helps to make this reality,
Next to the park you will find a tavern in which you can enjoy the view.

What an interesting place, but if your thinking ‘ a park let’s take the kids so they can run around and play’ then forget it, this is a park for those of us who want to be educated on the nature, flora and fauna of Crete. This is a guided walk around a small nature Park and we were lucky to have Mike (the boss) to show us around. He was so passionate about the work the Park is doing. A few reptiles along the walk made the walk more interesting. Most enjoyable!

This trip is near to the old town. Here you can learn about Cretan plants, flowers and herbs and there is a small zoo, with rabbits, lizzards etc. You have a magical view over Rethymno. Nice walk up to the park about 1 hour from the major hotels

I love nature, plants and herbs, so this place was for me. I really liked it, but I wouldn't maybe recommend this for the kids. If kids don't understand english, they probably get bored soon. This is not a zoo either, although there are some animals. We saw turtles, goat and a chameleon. There was a disappointed family visiting, who probably were expecting to see captured, unhappy animals, so they became unhappy. Oh lord...

Staff is very nice and we felt very welcomed and cozy. This is nice place to visit, especially if you are going to spend your whole holiday in the city.
