The Municipal Art Gallery is hosted in the former “Saint Marcus” Basilica. It has thematic exhibitions featuring mainly contemporary Greek artists. Chances are to see something new every two months.

It's very close to the Lion Fountain in the center of Heraklion. Nice Venetian church but it is now used to display art. Worthwhile to go in for a few minutes to see the building's interior and whatever art is on display. No entrance fee.

This old Venetian church is in 25th August Street, between the Morosini Fountain and the Venetian Loggia. The church is set behind a graceful facade with five arches. It now houses the municipal art museum.

This is in the heart of the historic pedestrian area of the town, the lion fountain is just in front and the Town Hall a few meters away. The art exhibition changes so always something different to see. It is housed in a former basilica.
