Ammoudara Beach is really a nice one! There are some seats with umbrellas, the only thing you have to do is buying e.g. a beer, which is not much in my opinion for lying on the beach all day long. Especially beers and other stuff isn't that expensive and as far as I'm concerned everyone can afford it. Secondly, the... More

Because Crete is such a large island (640 miles of coastline) organised excursions or boat trips can be prohibitively expensive, exclude admission prices, and often adhere to similar, strict timetables. With pick-ups and drop-off at various hotels en route, when you eventually arrive, they are not only crowded, but you still have to queue. And there is often little time... More

The Agapi Beach Hotel sits right on this beach and has a private area. Beach is great, clean and sandy.

as Heraklion has no beach at all, there is the resort of Amoudara.a sort of suburb of Heraklion, but in fact an important resort which didn't impress me so much as there is a main street, where almost all hotels, tavernas, bars and pubs are located ;the sad thing about Amoudara is the fact that in the resort of Amoudara there are a lot of... A beautiful sandy beach with clear blue sea. Sun loungers and a proper "mama mia" moment with a bit of Shirley Valentine thrown in

Soft and clean sand, no stones and rocks and two wonderful tavernas on top of it with professional and very helpful staff serving the guests on the beach. In mid September it was not crowdy with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. The water in the sea is terrific, very clean and safe. You can hire water bikes, boats , etc.... More

Ammoudara beach is beautiful but there is a lot of wind! This wind brings some choppy waves which a perfect for paddling in the sea whether your are 3 or 90! The sun in crete is fierce obviously and it is easy to catch the sun because the breeze cools you down so much (I had goosebumps in the sun... More

In our vacantion, we've been here most of the time because we really enjoyed this place. It's a nice sandy beach where you cand relax, swim and even do some snorkeling (there are a few nice things to see). The place is surrounded by restaurants where you cand go to eat. If you want to leave and let you stuff... More

There are a lot of chairs, the beach is clean and wide. There are no rocks on the water ( I was expecting to find some, but actually the bottom is pretty smooth). On the beach are some bars and showers.
