Ioanna our guide for the Palace of Knossos was excellent. We had visited the Archeological Museum on our own in the morning and purchased the tickets for the palace in advance on line in order to avoid the lines—as the agency had suggested. (A joint ticket for the museum and palace was no longer available at the time of our visit.) The agency had warned us not to visit the palace in the morning because of crowds from the cruise ships. We could not visit the site in the late afternoon as suggested, so we scheduled the tour for 13H30. The guide was of course very knowledgeable, but she was also very considerate of our age (late 70s) and slow pace. She also stopped in shadier spots to avoid the afternoon heat. The agency was professional is all respects and replied quickly to our questions before and after booking. After the tour we received an email with an extensive bibliography and suggestions for further reading about the Minoans. We highly recommend booking a tour with Tour Experts for a visit to Knossos.

We enjoyed a private early morning tour with Panos, ahead to the burning sun and busloads of other tourists. Very pleasant and informative, the two hours passed super fast, Panos had answers to almost all related and less related questions we had. Also on the broader geographical and historical picture and actual situation of Crete. It was one of the highlights of our holiday, next to hiking, swimming and gorgeous food.

Couldn't recommend this tour more highly! We were incredibly lucky. We’d booked the cheaper option (part of a group of 16 people max), but we were the only ones, so basically had a private tour.
Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Crete, ancient history and the archaeological sites. We visited Knossos. The tour is advertised to start at 5pm, but the timed tickets at Knossos give you entrance 15 mins before the start time, so the tour really starts at 4.45pm (16:45). There was a slight hiccough with finding the guide. We went to the kiosk at 4.45pm to ask if they knew where we might find him. They did. Turns out he was waiting on a bench a little bit further along from where we had been sitting, holding a sign with (part of) my surname on it. The advantage of starting at that time is that the site is much quieter. Most of the visitors from the cruise ships have left by that time of the day. It was a really pleasant time to explore the site. It was also a lot cooler.
Knossos is not the best archaeological site, by the way. It was one of the first to be dug up by the Victorians and was butchered somewhat by Evans, who was in charge of the project. Obviously not the fault of the tour company, but if you’re reading this trying to decide which sites to visit: there are more authentic sites out there. Our guide led us around the site for almost 90 minutes. His English is excellent. He spoke quietly, but clearly. He was considerate of other visitors and tried to steer us to corners where he could talk to us without being in the way of others. He made sure we didn’t stand in the sun for too long.
His understanding of the site and the history is really good and thorough. He is aware of more recent research and what that research might mean. I feel that I have learned so much in just 90 minutes.
I have wanted to visit Knossos, for personal reasons, for 40 years or more. Finally visiting Knossos was, in and of itself, a dream come true for me. Doing so with this guide and seeing the place through his eyes made it an even better experience.
We visited the acropolis (Athens) a few days ago. We had a guided tour there. I was disappointed by that tour. This was everything that your wasn’t: interactive, clear, engaging.
Σας ευχαριστώ πολύ for such a wonderful tour.

Recommended. Panos Kritikos from Tour Experts is a very knowledgeable and committed guide. We participated in a small group, which worked great. I also recommend visiting the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion in the morning and Knossos afterwards.

Our family enjoyed an amazing day of archeological site visits with Panos and we highly recommend his services. Even before we started Panos advised us on the best day to go in order to avoid crowds in Knossos (based on cruise ship schedules). Panos was engaging and very knowledgeable, he came prepared with maps and pictures to explain the sites and what is known of Minoan civilization (as well as what archeologists have yet to uncover). After a stop at the Roman site of Gortyna, Panos took us to a nice taverna for lunch and a welcome break for the kids. We finished the tour at Phaistos, also an impressive site, less crowded, and which benefited from better excavation methods. Along the way we enjoyed exchanging with Panos and through him learning about Greek and Cretan culture. Thank you Panos for the great day and for your patience with our family!

I used Panos Kritikos as driver guide for three days viewing archeological and cultural sites across Crete. I had a wonderful time and cannot recommend him and his company highly enough. I would definitely contact him again and schedule more time on the island. His vehicle was comfortable and his driving was great. His knowledge of archeology is extensive and he did everything possible to make my experience enjoyable. He also took me to some great non-touristy restaurants and helped order some amazing food. It's hard to pick a favorite but the chicken with lemon sauce was remarkable. Again, I do a lot of traveling and see a lot of guides and Panos is up there with the very best. A true gentleman and a scholar. If you are looking for a great experience in Crete, this is a great family business that can help you create a wonderful journey and customized experience.

Panos offered a fantastic tour! He took great care to explain the historical context of the site, including the controversial archaeological and restoration practices. At each stop, he pointed out what was original and what was recreated, as well as how accurate the recreated structures and art were likely to be. He also brought the site to life through stories of how geopolitics, religion, trade, and geography would have affected the community in different eras.

We flew to Crete for the day from Santorini. There is so very much to do on the island, but our time was limited. We chose the tour for seeing the museum and the Minoan ruins. Ioanna was our guide through each area. Let me start by saying this was far better than trying to see them on your own. We were advised to see the museum first due to non publicized hours and the museum closing early. We had time for a fantastic lunch at the restaurant she recommended and we tried a few new foods she recommended as well. The day ended with the ruins and learning the fascinating history of this ancient civilization. I highly, highly recommend this tour and Ioanna as a personal guide!

Thoroughly enjoyable visit to Knossos expertly guided by Panos. We visited the site in early in the morning followed by a tour of Heraklion. We were marvelled by Panos’ knowledge of the site, archaeological debate and more contemporary history on our visit to Heraklion. He was a super guide & great company. We would certainly recommend him to anyone keen to learn more about the area!

The half-day tour of Knossos and the Archeology Museum were a highlight our trip to Crete. Panos provided a wonderful overview of the site, its cultural importance and its place in time. His enthusiasm for and knowledge of the subject were on full display throughout the morning, and he guided us to the most important objects within the collection, avoiding the ADC (another damn ceramic) problem. Run, don't walk, to book this edifying experience.

You can check online directly from the flight companies , because it also depends on the dates ( and of course the earlier you book the better price you get - there are also online offers. You can subscribe and the sites inform you about their offers )
