Friendly owners who feature unique, artisan made gifts and items for a variety of occasions. We bought souvenirs, something for our child's room, and a few other items. Highly recommend going here!

We found the Mayaba Store as we explored the surprisingly GREAT outdoor shopping area that started just a block away from the Archaeological Museum. AND ... SO GLAD that we found this shopping area - a really nice mix of high end, mid range, boutiques and unique shops - like the Mayaba. Not that we needed to or wanted to do retail shopping in every town that we visited on our cruise - but this was certainly a very nice and unexpected discovery. There were several things in the window of Mayaba that caught our eye - so we walked in - and found a relatively small shop - jam packed with tons of interesting items - and NOT just the usual touristy souvenir crap (as an other review categorized it as being). The owners - a wife and husband - were wonderfully welcoming and cordial, especially when we made the effort to say hello and have a conversation. They were extremely kind in going out of their way to pull items from the crowded window and floor space for us to look at, and when 2 of the items I purchased required the original box and certificates - they again went out of their way (with the shop being very busy) to search the back room to ensure that I did indeed get the correct packaging that accompanied my items. Nice shop! Fun and interesting mix of gift and decor items! Wonderful Service! If you have the opportunity - it is worth the effort to find and explore this hidden gem of a shopping area in the museum / waterfront area of Heraklion! Look forward to coming back some day!!!…
