I visited Lyrarakis a few weeks ago and cannot put into words what a wonderful experience we had. My boyfriend and I both enjoy wine very much and decided to do the “Premium Cellar Experience.” We were not disappointed! We spent the afternoon learning about the history, wine, and culture of Crete. Our guide could not have been more delightful... More

On Crete you will find several wine makers and all of them offer wine tastings. The past years we regularly went to Boutaris (one of the famous ones on Crete), but this year we wanted to see something else. Therefore we came to Lyrarakis Winery and did the wine tasting there. Compared to Boutaris, this winery is not that commercial,... More

We visited Lyrarakis Winery on route to Agios Nicolas. Giannis showed us the vineyards and explained all local varieties, characteristics and all important things about wine production. After these very useful informations we continued with a wonderful wine tasting. They also offered us some local bites to combine the wines, It is definitely worth the visit!!

We can't say enough, this was an amazing winery tour. Our guide, she was excellent. We know little about wine, well basically nothing about wine, other than you drink it - and we love to drink it! We did the €5 tour, but we wish we did a further option as we really didn't want to leave, it was that... More

Very professional facilities. The guide- Anna- was amazing and her good mood transcendent; OK, the wine helped with that. Very well organised vineyard and the short tour was highly informative. The wines themselves were good… just not breath-taking! The 100% Mandilari was perhaps a case of value for money but other than that I must admit that the reputation of... More

It was suggested to us that this is the best wine on Crete, and much homework proved to us that this winery does produce very nice but unique wines so we booked a visit. We took the tour that included matched food. Our guide was hugely knowledgeable and very friendly, guiding us through the vines peculiar to Crete they are... More

My boyfriend and I came to Crete for a week and were very interested in going wine tasting and came across this winery. It was absolutely fantastic and we enjoyed every moment of it! We booked the wine and cheese experience and I would say at 10 euros (5 euros more than a standard wine tasting visit) it is definitely... More

A wonderful and very interesting visit to a vineyard where we had a tour of the vineyard and how they made the wines and then tasted some delicious wines. My teenage kids didn't enjoy it as much because obviously they couldn't taste the wines! But they were given plenty of bread, olives and a non-alcholic grape drink to try.

We visit the Lyrarakis estate/winery/"psarades" already for many years. We have seen so much improvement over all these years: better wines, nicer buildings, good presentation, more choice regarding the tours etc. You can see this family invests a lot. In April 2016 Areti welcomed us on a wine tasting tour we had booked. We did get different food and wine.... More
