    Great visit to vineyard
Really enjoyable visit. Had a talk first about the winery and grapes grown which lasts about 20 minutes. We booked the 7 premium wine tasting and ordered a cheese and charcuterie board with dips and bread. We also used the taxi service recommended by the vineyard to collect/return us to our hotel in Hersonissos. Really efficient service. Would throughly recommend.

Beautiful scenery, friendly staff and excellent wine
The winery is in a beautiful location - you sit outside in a shady covered area to do the wine tasting with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. We did the tasting with seven wines and they were all great. The staff was really friendly and the person doing our tasting was am absolutely lovely woman. We didn't do the tour of the vineyard because my mum can't easily walk around so can't comment on that. The wines are excellent but also great value for money. We had a fantastic time and I highly recommend wine tasting here.

Romantic picnic lunch & vineyard tour
A must do for couples! Arrive 15 minutes early! The picnic choice was great to do if you dont need/want a full wine tasting but still wish to tour the vineyard, learn all the about the grape varieties, the arboriculture & have a artfully crafted meal of delicious locally sourced foods paired with 5 wines. The server will leave you to enjoy the food wine and each other at a picnic bench under a grape vine covered trestle. Thoroughly enjoyed! Highly recommended.

Cretan wine tastings with food pairings - in the vineyard, under the shade of an olive tree: highly delightful!
Lyrarakis Winery provided us with a highly delightful experience: Cretan wine tastings with food pairings - in the vineyard, under the shade of an olive tree. We learned that Crete has over 4,000 year’s experience making wine, much of it from indigenous grape varieties. We loved Lyrarakis’ Psarades Dafni and Kedros Liatiko offerings, perfect matches with the food and the sunny, dry, breezy and warm Crete weather. The wine and food were outstanding, and the staff were welcoming, warm, knowledgeable and fun. If you plan to visit Greece and enjoy wine, be sure to book this experience!

    A must do winery experience
Warmly welcomed into this lovely winery. Quick tour, interesting and unique. Followed by wine tasting a lunch (pre booked) The team do a very good job of keeping the food and wine flowing amongst the number of guests. Very attentive and genuinely friendly. They were very accommodating of people who arrived late or without bookings. Reasonably priced wine to purchase post experience. Stunning views and a lovely place in general to just meander.

    Picnic tour
We did the tour and picnic experience. We had three wines (red, white and rosé). So many traditional greek foods were packed in our basket and then we finished off with dessert and a sweet wine called “ZaZaZu”. Everything was delicious! Would highly recommend!

A very warm welcome - even if you can only buy a few bottles ...
We had booked a holiday home in the south of Crete for a few days and arrived in Heraklion at noon on a Saturday. We saw that the Lyrarakis Winery was practically right on the way and just wanted to buy a few bottles of wine for our stay. We didn't have the time to take up one of the proper wine tasting offers, but were still given a very warm welcome and very good recommendations. We even received an additional bottle of red wine as a gift and were served two espressos for our ongoing journey! The wines added an extra dimension of quality to our wonderful stay in Crete – and we have certainly not been to your place (the Lyrarakis winery & our paradise in the south of Crete ...) the last time!

Go for the wine, stay for the food!
Absolutely incredible and worth every moment. We tried 7 wines in total and surprisingly enjoyed some of the best food on our Crete trip. Everyone was very welcoming, knowledgeable, and went beyond to ensure we had a good time. They’ve also done a lot of really nice work to update the facilities!

Wonderful wine tasting with stunning view and familiar atmosphere
„We only have the view and the drinks“ - employee from Lyrarakis Winery It was our first wine tasting and we were absolutely stunned. The view was amazing. The free guided tour was funny and we learned a lot about Crete and the winery. Our guide was the best we could imagine. The tasting itself was romantic with soft jazz music, a stunning view and great snacks. We found our new favorite wine (ZaZaZu) and everything felt so calm and familiar. Irini, the woman who guided our tasting, had a lot of humor and know how. The little dog Dafni sat next to us and we had a fantastic afternoon/evening in the stunning wine gardens of Lyrarakis. We highly recommend. Thanks to Irini and the whole Lyrarakis Team.

I have a lot of positives and negatives for this winery. The place was really nice and the people there were really kind with us. Unfortunately, even if we tasted a lot of their wines 8 of them actually, none of them seemed to be something amazing or unique that they keeped talking and talking about. And we were really sad because we couldn't pick the ones we actually wanted to taste. They had specific wines for bringing to the people that were tasting, which is not something bad, but from my point of view its a good idea to let also the people choose what they want, cause this way we maybe could find something that it was worth it. Another thing that made us really sad was that all of the wines that we tasted, had a lot but i mean a lot of sulfites and so from the second wine and after we had a terrible headache which is not something we are used on when we taste wines. So even if they told us that they are using sustainable ways in their cultivation in order to make their wines, that wasn't what we actually tasted. Something else i wanted to add, when you say that you are making a biodynamic cultivation you have to actually fulfill some requirements and have a specific certification for that. So since you don't, i advise you not to say anything about that.
The wine tasting also lasted 3 hours for 8 wines something that made us a lot tired. The food was really good but not an extraordinary quality, to be that expensive. And nobody also brought us any price list, to see the full range of the products with their prices. So we just saw only the wines that were inside, behind the office were we paid. I'm writing all this not to highlight that everything was bad, just to say that we were unfortunately really disappointed from a winery that has a long history of winemaking, they should do more.

Dear Mr. Papadopoulos, Thank you for visiting our winery and taking the time to share your experience with us. We are really sorry to see that you were disappointed with your visit. We do appreciate your comments and take all of them into consideration for the improvement of our services. Please allow me to mention, for any users that might read this, that we do not claim to be practicing biodynamic cultivation not to have a Biodynamic certificate. Although we are very interested in it, we experiment and research many different methods, including but not limited to some BD practices, trying to find the best match for our reality and the characteristics of the Cretan vineyards. Once again, we thank you for your feedback and hope to have the chance to meet your expectations in a future visit. Greetings and warms wishes from Crete

I was very disappointed, I arranged ahead of time and as I was carless it took some doing . The setting was beautiful it was a beautiful day and my trip there involved a bus and a beautiful walk (about 90 min total travel) George the “tasting guide” was distracted and completely uninterested. There was 1 couple there when I arrived they had finished their tasting but it seemed that George also ignored them . He poured the wines recited a short paragraph and left I tried to engage him in discussion about the vineyard itself but: nothing and would just disappear we were only about half way through when he wanted to call for my taxi although I was in no rush. total visit time maybe 20 min. I did notice that 2 Greek women came as I was finishing and he spent a long time talking w them before even pouring. I have never felt so unwelcomed as a paying (18 euro for 7 tastes) tourist.I have done tastings around the world. His English was perfect so I do not think it was a language barrier. The wines were “ok” although the whites were not chilled adequately. There are other vineyards to choose from.

Great hospitality from Yiorgos who showed us the vineyards and cellars and explained all about the winemaking process, indigenous grape varieties, history of the winery etc. Then we had a great lunch with traditional local produce and tasted several wines. The white single vineyard ones are world class wines, very diverse and interesting. Must try Thrapsathiri, Dafni and Plyto. Very unique reds too, from the lighter liatiko to the big mandilari and the alpha wine of the winery, Symbolo, which is produced only in exceptional years.

Definitely a quality producer in Crete, focusing in indigenous varieties and experimental vineyards and techniques, producing some really distinct and yummy wines. A must visit if you are in Crete.

We had some friends holidaying with us and wanted to show them different aspects of the island , this winery was recommended to me and we booked up for the 7 wines tasting and also preordered some food to accompany.
Started with a little tour and a small educational on the vines , very interesting and also some knowledge on olive oil.
The views whilst tasting your wines are stunning , it’s a lovely tranquil place , we had a lovely lady called Marina look after us and talk us through our wines .
The quality of the food was amazing , fabulous flavours and presentation was excellent.
We had one non drinker who drank grape juice and for the four of us with food our bill was €100 , not bad value for 7 wines and food .
We spent just over 3 hours and we where not rushed to move along for the next arrivals .
Very pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

We booked the picnic experience and it was fantastic! Irena gave us great information on the wines and seated us at a picnic table surrounded by vineyards and gorgeous views. The picnic basket food was better than anything I could imagine. Local meats and cheeses, a gyro, fried zucchini and dessert was some of it. It was a cool, windy day and they already had blankets at the table if needed. We tasted glass pours of two whites and two reds after being welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine. This is one of the best value experiences I have had in many winery visits around the world. I really liked the fact that all this was able to be booked online. Made it super easy to visit at the last minute. Thanks for a really fun visit!

Lyrarakis Winery is in the gorgeous interior of Crete, best traveled to via car. The winery itself is gorgeous, with the tasting room overlooking the actual vineyards with mountains in the distance.

There are a few different tasting options but I recommend the “Single Area Wine Tasting”, which is a series of 7 single-vineyard wines for 25.00€ per person. The price is incredibly reasonable, and you will get to taste a wide variety of what Lyrarakis has to offer. A number of their grapes were on the brink of extinction before Lyrarakis invested in reviving them, so you can taste some truly rare things here!

Personally, my favorite was their Dafni (greek for “laurel” as it has a pronounced herbal note) bottling, but their whole range is delicious.

You can also pre-order food if you do the “customize your wine tasting” and the food options are delicious and super reasonable in price. I’d say get the dakos for sure!

We had the pleasure of getting to geek out with one of the owners, Manolis, who was happy to help us pick up some older bottles with some age on them. Again the Dafni shone bright and I look forward to pairing it with some spiced crab cakes!

Manolis, and the whole team, were incredibly warm and welcoming, making the experience a highlight of our honeymoon in Crete. Check them out and support an awesome family-run winery!

We chose to create our own package online opting for the wine tasting and the nibbles which we fancied including the meat platter. The experience was fantastico, great service and very knowledgeable about the wines. We had 5 different wines and purchased 2 bottle for around 20 euros before we left they was that good.

If the drive away from the resort is putting you off, don't let it as the 40 minutes journey is a wonderful experience in itself.

Regards
Mike and Diana

Wines --- all excellent of course, and ditto for the food.
We were served approximately 8 wines including a dessert wine that we purchased at there. I will order many of the wines we tasted through their distributor in the U.S.

Me and my boyfriend came today for his birthday and we were looked after by two amazing girls (the wine has meant I’ve forgotten names but the first girl met us at the start dressed in black with red sunglasses and the second was a girl in white who looked after us during the picnic)! The vineyard is gorgeous and all of the wines were phenomenal - they even catered to vegan and brought a mini birthday cake for my partner. The wine is very well priced if you want to buy afterwards and I’d recommend using the transfer they suggest - Angela was lovely and made the trip much easier.

Thankyou to everyone who looked after us, we will definitely be back next time we come to Crete! Xx

A fantastic experience. We started with an informative trip through the vineyard and then sat down at an amazing covered area with serene views over the vineyards and distant mountains, when we were served a small glass of eight different wines, along with nibbles. The waitress informed us of each of the wines and the service was very good and excellent value. It was a wonderful experience and one not to be missed.
