We had a brilliant day on Forage Crete's Mochos tour. Haris was an excellent and knowledgeable guide - he's wonderfully passionate and informed about Crete's plants, their lives and uses. The hike was super (made even better by yummy treats Haris brought along for a snack). We thoroughly enjoyed learning about the ecology of the Cretan mountains and gathering herbs, guided by Haris. We then had a delicious lunch at a local taverna before heading to Haris' family home to use the herbs we'd foraged in oils and salts (which I've already used since arriving home - yum!). Totally recommend spending a day learning all about Crete's plants and their uses with Forage Crete.

My partner and I did a tour with Forage Crete which we really enjoyed. Haris is a great host with excellent knowledge of Cretan botany with a PHD from the UK. We hiked up Mount Dikta where we gathered local herbs and learnt about the different species of wild herbs and their uses. The walk was great and we had a great view over Crete. After this we had a lovely lunch with amazing food at a local restaurant before going to his Yia Yia’s (granny) former home where we prepared olive oil and salt infusions. A really great tour with a difference that gives you an insight into the Cretan way of life. I highly recommend.

My family and I (a mother of 59 years, three children aged 20-25) did the Mochos tour and had a wonderful time. The whole experience was just us plus our host, Haris. The hike was fairly strenuous but not overwhelming, and it was absolutely beautiful. We gathered a few herbs and later used them to make infused salt and olive oil, which was easy and fun. In between, we had a lovely meal at a restaurant in the town (included in the price) and checked out Haris' grandmother's home, which was a great opportunity to learn some history. Throughout, Haris was friendly and personable. He also provided transportation there and back. I have nothing but good things to say about this and strongly recommend it! A really amazing opportunity to have an off-the-beaten path experience.

We spent our first full day in Crete with Haris doing two hiking routes, collecting yummy greens, enjoying the beautiful Cretan nature, learning about the island, and preparing some plant goodies that were the perfect Cretan souvenirs. Haris was the kindest host, and the best guide to Cretan nature. Lunch, at a local taverna, was delicious and genuine. The whole experience was authentic, relaxing, enriching and very fun. Totally recommended! Un superbe tour d'horizon: vues, fragrances, papilles, animaux, plats, nature, marche, culture, et plus encore. Fortement recommande.
