Beautiful beach, with sand and shallow depth. Ideal for children. The sunbeds belong to the municipality, so they have a fairly good price (4 euros for a sunbed and 2 euros for an umbrella). The beach was clean and we enjoyed our swim. Although I think that the best part of the beach of Elounda has unfortunately been occupied by expensive hotels.

This is a lovely beach for paddling a gentle swim in calm seas and lounging on a sun lounger. Fair prices - you can lounge for a whole day for 3 euros, plus 2 for a parasol. Beautiful views. Free open air showers to wash off the sand before you go home. Good public loos. Lots of shops, tavernas, restaurants and cafes nearby.

Another enjoyable day on the beach, sun sand and waves with two sunbeds and sun shade only €10 per day.
Small negative the coaches drop off troops of visitors for ferry trips to islands or one hour walking trips. And the coach drivers leave engine on only 20m to children’s playground and beach area!
Come on Mayor. Sort it out

Clean beach with good facilities nearby such as free, very clean public toilets next to beach and a fresh water shower on beach.
Came here for the day and sun loungers are €3 each and parasol €2 each which is reasonable.
We 3 tried the water sports on offer, going on the aqua rocket (donut-type) attraction to which is €20 per person but great fun and well worth a try. They are situated on beach by lifeguard and also offer pedalos to hire for €20 per hour.
Nearby kiosk selling cans of soft drinks for €1.20 everyone friendly and pleasant and makes for a fun family beach day.

This lovely beach was only short walk from our accommodation so we used it a lot. You can rent sun loungers and parasols for €7 a day which is pretty good value.
The sea is very calm indeed and safe for paddling and swimming and there is a lifeguard in attendance.
The views from the beach of the islands around the place are magnificent and it is a very relaxing area.
It is lined with shops and restaurants as well so there’s no need to go hungry or thirsty.

A gorgeous little beach and so close to the town. Very clean and well kept and plenty of loungers for everyone. The sea is so clear but don't stay still for long as the little fish will have your legs which is funny for the people on the beach who see your reaction.
Plenty of places nearby for refreshment and look forward to another day on the beach soon.

We ended up going to this beach 3 times in our week in Agios Nicolas as it totally exceeded our expectations. It was clean with clear seas and the staff friendly, sanitising the sand and sunbeds. 2 x sunbeds with umbrella was just €7, though on a weekend in peak season you may need to arrive by 11 to be certain of getting one
Is lots of free parking, clean toilets at both ends of the beach and shops and restaurants near by for refreshments.

A standard beach in Elounda, Open to anyone with nice views of the town and harbour.. If You need to hire a bed and umbrella it costs 7 euros, but you can just as easily take a towel and lay on the sand/beach. It has several wooden changing huts and toilets near by for both men/women and a disabled toilet. The toilets where ok and what you would normally get from public toilets. There are plenty of bars and places to eat very close by, and there are boat trips a plenty. The views are lovely the beach itself is tidy but basic and for all ages.. The water is waist height for quite a distance out, warm, clear and nice to swim or paddle in there is also a children's play area close by.. Great to spend a few hours or more and have done in the past ,and will do in the future.

Lovely beach but the ends of the beach has the best areas when walking in, avoid the middle (by he lifeguard) as there’s shingle to walk over and can be difficult.
When hiring a bed, these are spaced out and have parasols and table. All beds are are sanitised between uses, just make sure the green ‘disinfectant’ label is displayed to make sure it’s clean.
There are boats, etc. For hire if your interested. Be sure to visit the tavernas opposite the beach for a delicious lunch such as Cyprianna, very good food and prices

It was less than 5 minutes walk from our apartments, so we went down to the beach for a swim. The water was lovely, as calm as a lake and not too cold to get into. It was clear and you could see the sand at the bottom. We went quite far out and felt safe; you can have a great swim. It was sandy underfoot where we chose to swim, close to the area on the left (when looking out to sea) with small boats moored and cars parked to your left. There's a lifeguard on this beach (situated to our right) who blows a whistle to alert people that she's concerned about in the sea. That's a bonus re safety. We didn't use the sun beds nor sunbathe there, as we were so close to the ones at our apartment, following our swim we returned there. We noticed activities going from where the lifeguard tower is, like speed boats towing rubber rings etc.

Does Elounda beach have complete sand? Also what’s the shelf like? How far out can you go, till you are out of your depth?
Written June 14, 2020
As you take the first steps in the water there may be a few pebbles and not the coarse sand that is on the shore.
Click on the Google Maps Elounda Beach to see how far the sand goes.

I would prefer not to go on one of the timed boat tours to Spinalonga , as when I visited Crete earlier this year I did Balos lagoon and neighbouring island and the time on the actual island was so very rushed.
Does anyone know is it possible just to get a boat/ferry to Spinalonga and return at your leisure ?? Going again end of September.
Many thanks
Ali
