Lynne is an extremely knowledgeable and kind local who is happy to give you suggestions about your reading journey while you're in Elounda. She's also able to answer questions about the town.

My partner and I stumbled on her bookshop while exploring the town and it is a gem! We found a decent collection of English books and also a lot of books written about Crete either written in or translated to English.

Definitely worth a visit!

A used book store with multiple languages and books sorted by subject! What a treat to find. The owner is a wealth of information for travelers and has put her heart into this wonderful little book business.

A lovely lady who offered a excellent service in this shop; assisted greatly after helping me choose from a fabulous choice of home made cards. The handmade gifts are delightful and the second-hand book choice extensive. 'Bravo'!

We made a special trip to Elounda to look for travel guides and left with a half dozen or so. Lynne, the owner, also stocks a variety of genres in several languages. She also gave us welcome recommendations for restaurants and excursions.

Always amongst the first ports of call for me is Eklektos, only when I set foot over the threshold do I really feel that I am truly back. For those who are new to Elounda this place is an absolute must. Not just for the books, or the bags, clothes, jewellery, fridge magnets, artworks or plethora of other articles you can find squirreled away in this shop. But so you can meet the proprietor who is fondly thought of by many as the British oracle for all things Cretan. She will offer advice on places to go, she can put you in contact with people in a wide variety of fields and is on first name terms with almost everyone in the village. All done with humour and efficiency.

The books on offer are in a wide variety of languages with a good selection of coffee books and cooking books as well as the more usual holiday reading literature, If you wish to read some tales based on the local area whilst you are staying there Lynne can provide a good selection of books by various authors who have moved to Crete and been inspired by the history of the place and touched by the hearts of the Cretan people.
She also will give a discount on books of you can trade in books you have brought with you.

For either the budding artist or more accomplished painters there is a small range of artistic supplies on sale, Printing services are also available be it maps or boarding passes

Truly a vital port of call during your stay in Crete, preferably at the start of you stay

Eklektos books is no mere bookshop, it is the best starting point for your time in Elounda. Offering an extensive range of literature in many languages is just the tip of the iceberg. The owner is also a first rate encyclopedic guide to the local area. A top notch ambassador for Elounda and the local area. Happy to offer useful advice without charge and a healthy dose of wit to go with the wisdom.

Well where do I start! Lynne the owner of the Bookshop is so friendly and helpful with great local knowledge and is happy to recommend different companies for various tours and is very happy to sort out a bargain for you amongst her wide range of stationery and New and Used Books.

On our recent Holiday we visited the shop twice at the start and end of our Holiday and I’d recommend paying Lynne a visit even if Books aren’t your thing.

On a side note Lynne’s beautiful dog Pepper will also give you a warm welcome and a friendly lick.

This place was undoubtedly one of the memorable experiences of our Holiday.

We have been to Elounda several times but this visit (at end of September/start of October) was the first time we visited this book shop as my wife was looking for a book based in the local area (the first by Beryl Darby).
This shop was very well stocked with this series of books and other local interest books (Kazantzakis, history books from ancient history through to WW2 with books on the battle of Crete and the Cretan resistance) and more general fiction and non-fiction books.
We visited 3 times whilst on holiday.
What marks this bookshop out is Lynne's knowledgeable and friendly customer service, happy to talk about both the books on sale and the local area. A special bonus for me was the very friendly dog, Pepper, who was happy to say hello to me on each visit.
We will definitely call in again the next time we are in the area.
