What a great find, so unexpected. Very helpful and knowledgeable lady. Found the book we were looking for, so very happy. Lots of books in different genres and different languages. Many informative books on Crete. Well worth a browse. Thanks for the chat and the help.

Lynne was in process of moving her shop to larger premises a short distance away from the original site. Despite this distraction she went out of her way to find us books, maps and even dvd's. She has a wide range of books to buy and offers buy a book, take it back later and pay a Euro for the next one.

Hello! thanks for taking the time to give us a review. I'm glad you like our shop and that we were helpful. The new shop is working well in the new location, and we have better access for those who couldn't get around the steps! Once again, thanks for taking the time to give us a review, and we look forward to seeing you again in beautiful Elounda. Eklektos

OK, so as a bookshop it fills all the requirements....it sells books..... In many languages
But Eklektos books is so much more. If you need any advise about where to go on and around Elounda them your first port of call should be here. Lynn will give you advise aplenty. All told with humour and accuracy. She is truly independent and will only give her honest opinion about which places are worth going to. Highly recommended and will also provide you with an excellent cuppa.

Thanks for taking the time to review, and I'm glad you liked the shop! We feel that visitors work hard to pay for a holiday and deserve to have as much information available to help them have a good time. We are not sponsored by any particular place, so we report what we know and what recommendations other visitors give us - we NEVER give negative feedback - basically we've never had any to be negative about! I'm glad you liked the cuppa, but you have to come back and try the hubby's brew-making...he's the best ever! Regards Eklektos

Lovely people and smashing little dog but a book exchange number one attraction in Elounda when it has such a beautiful harbour, Spinalonga etc .... sorry but I don't get it.

I'm sure if your into books then it will be fine but the hotel we stayed in had books you could borrow and read as well as being able to leave those that you had read so seemed to do all that this shop was doing.

We checked it out as it was number one on TA but left wondering why when Elonda has so much else to offer

Hi Sue and Andy. thanks for taking the time to comment on our shop, and thanks for the pictures :) We do feel that Elounda has a great deal to offer, and are very grateful that the reviews we have had have placed us at number one, but I think it is because we try to give visitors information on the area, trips, history, even bus times, and this is what people appreciate. At time of writing, i have to say that you were lucky to have a place that had a free book exchange - we have had many commets from visitors to Elounda that the once-free books are now being sold in some hotels. I think it also needs to be said that there are also some of the cafe/bars that have books too. We believe the difference we can offer is very good condition, current and popular authors at a good price - we had a copy of Dan Brown's 'Inferno' in our shop on the Friday as it was released in UK the prior Tuesday! We do appreciate your feedback, and are constantly looking to improve what we do. Our curent aim is to support local arts and crafts with new ranges of handmade, local jewellery and clocks and we are adding to the listings of local events and points of interest for Elounda visitors all the time . we would like to think we are a bit more than a bookshop/book exchange and can offer a service to those who come to see the village that we love so much. Hello from Ekelktos! Thanks for the review and it's good to know we still appeal to our more regular visitors with the books that we offer. You will have noticed we made a few adjustments, and we already have a few ideas in place for next year, so when you come back again, we'll still have a surprise in store :) The map ranfe that we carry has now taken onboard the fact that walkers and hikers need something a bit more like the good old ordenance survey, and have now started to produce a smaller scale map in this vein, which we are pleased to stock. Crete is the 5th largest island in the Med, so a map can be invaluable if you rent a car! Once again, thanks for taking the time to give us a review - we really appreciate the feedback from all our visitors. Have a great Autumn (hopefully not too wet) and we look forward to seeing you again for a cuppa and a chat in Elounda! Eklektos

I've always loved this little book shop in Elounda but the new owners Lynn and John are extremely friendly and in the absence of a tourist office in Elounda now they are a great source of info. and if they don't have the answers then they'll do their best to find out for you. Great selection of holiday reading. Take along any books you've read and they'll discount your next purchase.

Travelled to Elounda for the first time last week and I can honestly say that John & Lynne at Eklektos were the icing on an already pretty wonderful cake. This bookshop is an absolute GEM. Thing is, you go in for a book and emerge about three hours later (usually with a tummy full of tea and ice cream on your chin). :-)
Eklektos is an invaluable resource for all first-timers to the area as a wide variety of local history books, postcards, locally written fiction and comprehensive maps are stocked.

Whatever you need, in whatever language you need it, you'll find it here.

And when you've finished reading you can trade your old book in for a discount on your next one. Good idea eh?
John & Lynne are from the UK and live locally so are a great source of information regarding local eateries, hidden gems, bus times etc.

Head away from the square, up the hill and they're a short way up on your left. You'll know it when you see it. It's the kind of shop everyone wants to own!

A twinkly, beautiful diamond in the crown of Elounda. When you're there, give them both a squeeze from me. I'll be back soon.

Thanks for the positive feedback! we are really pleased that yiou and others like what we are trying to do! Glad you think we have a good selection, and I'm pleased to report that we are trying to improve the stock all the time! We also have a pipeline for teabags (my sons in England) so the tea should stay on track :) Take care and look forward to seeing you again soon!

A used book store with multiple languages and books sorted by subject! What a treat to find. The owner is a wealth of information for travelers and has put her heart into this wonderful little book business.

A lovely lady who offered a excellent service in this shop; assisted greatly after helping me choose from a fabulous choice of home made cards. The handmade gifts are delightful and the second-hand book choice extensive. 'Bravo'!

We made a special trip to Elounda to look for travel guides and left with a half dozen or so. Lynne, the owner, also stocks a variety of genres in several languages. She also gave us welcome recommendations for restaurants and excursions.
