Chania Diving Center is the best dive center in Chania, Crete. We offer high-quality training to beginners who want to try a dive or a snorkeling trip to discover the underwater world of Chania, Crete and to divers who wish to continue their training in recreational and technical diving. With a maximum of 3-4 divers per dive leader, we maximize the level of safety and pleasure to everyone, which is our priority. My boyfriend just get his Openwater so we were looking for our first « couple dive ».
Mister was little bit uncomfortable about a cave diving but diving in the elephant cave with Chania center was reassuring and secure! They provide good equipment with powerful torches.
The site is one of kind place with giants stalagmites and stalactites.
Our guide even shows us the last elephant bones remaining inside the cave.
We were so stunned that I forgot my diving computer on the dock on our way back.

We spent the day diving with Chania Diving Center. We contracted with a tour company near Heraklion who drove us to and from Souda Bay. I found Chania Diving Center to be safe and professional. We had some challenges, as first they didn’t have yoke values on their tanks, nor did they have DIN to yoke adapters. Then, they had to find tools to switch hoses from our regulators to theirs (for our computers). Our plan was only to rent tannks and weights, but we ended up with a couple of their regulators too. They basically work out of boats and a large SCUBA van with all their tanks and equipment which waits at the pier while you dive. Our two dive leaders were calm, safe, patient and professional. We had 8 divers (+2 staff) of wide-ranging experience diving the submarine Cave of Elephants and then the wreck of the Steamer "MINNEWASKA.” I didn’t envy the staff having a diver with 5 open water dives, who haven’t dove in 2 years to my buddy and I who have 100s of dives and just dove the day before. They were great with everyone, making the entire dive a great experience. I would certainly recommend them for this dive. We contracted for two single tank dives. The first was to the submarine Cave of Elephants is located in Drepano area of Akrotiri, in Chania prefecture and out of Souda Bay. I liken the cave dive (which is not a true cave, but really a cavern, to the Blue Hole in Belize. It’s a fantastic dive that every diver should experience (but not something you want to do many times). The second dive was the wreck of the Steamer "MINNEWASKA", Marathi Souda. She sank after a mine explosion on November 26, 1916. Its really a wreck of a wreck with lots of fish and nidibranch life. Their English was great (as our Greek is horrible) as we didn’t have any issues communicating above or below water.

We have been diving for a long time, all over the world and I have never seen such a level of comfort and care. The equipment is good , the boat comfortable , the dives in very pleasant caves . Special mention for our instructors Georges and Christina , warm, friendly and competent . The perfect place to dive in Crete!

We really enjoyed diving with Chania Diving Center. We were with Dimitri and Roussos (Dimitri was our instructor, a very professional and nice guy). They took a really good care of us (they insisted in carrying all the equipment, and were so helpful with everything). We did two dives, in Tunnel and in Cathedral, and both were one of our best diving experiences in caves and caverns we've ever had (they were of a great geological interest and were also challenging in terms of diving technique). In conclusion, we highly recommend to dive with Chania Diving Center! They won't disappoint you.

One of the highlights of our trip! Our instructors were very helpful and instructive - and they really made us laugh too to help us feel at ease. We got so hooked that we came back a few days later to do the Scuba Diver certification. Would highly recommend!

Great dive with Nikolaos and Kat as dive masters, as well as Panos our boat pilot. The Elephant cave was fantastic and worth the experience. Our guides were very knowledgeable and were quick to point out interesting things to see. The second dive at the wreck was also interesting. A pleasant easy dive. Panos was a great help with the equipment and getting in and out of the water.

My husband and I booked a Snorkeling and Boat Trip through Chania Diving Center which took place last week. I can honestly say it was the worst holiday experience of my life.
Nothing from our trip resembled the advertising. The boat was just a tiny rubber dinghy with no shelter, and the experience took place in a cove with no natural wildlife. As there was no shade from the sun, we both came down with sunstroke and received serious burns to the back, shoulders and arms.
My husband emailed a couple of days later with a perfectly polite complaint. At first we were ignored but then began to receive insulting and threatening emails, warning us not to share our experience with anyone else.
Note to the owner: We will not be intimidated by you or any of your staff. We will continue to leave truthful and unbias feedback of your company wherever we see fit. Instead of blaming customers, I suggest you use this situation to learn and improve the way you do business.

As i explained you many times to your threating emails: You sent me a message 4 days after the trip that you suffered from a second degree burn because of the exposion in the sun in April during our activity and you threated us that you will write a bad review everywhere if we don΄t refund you.
As i explained you, we don¨t accept any kind of threats and i couldn¨t know that your sun burn happened during our activity as you contacted me 4 days later!!
Secondly, during our tour we provided wetsuits and you chose not to use them becaue the weather wasn¨t so warm and you wanted to stay under the sun to keep you warm.
As it came out from your several messages, all and all happened because you wanted a refund and we denied to give it to you, as you did the tour, when you left you thanked everybody cause you had a great day.
Thank you for being with us but We don't want that kind of customers like you and your husband that blamed us for something days later without any evidence for what you claimed and just demanding money and threatened us.
And thank you for your advise for not blaming customers but you have to learn that you cannot blame business for your mistakes and responsibilities just to take money back. That doesn΄t work anymore!

First let me say we gave this 'company' every opportunity to address our complaints but they first ignored us, and then threatened us once we starting posting reviews. Clearly customer satisfaction is not required as there are plenty more tourists in the sea, so to speak.
Let me assure you the pictures you see on here, Facebook, Viator etc are not accurate. Because of this deception it's fair to assume that some positive reviews will be fabricated too. The large white boat with cover seen in all their advertising is not used - only small, exposed rubber dinghies. Likewise the wildlife you see pictured is not present, nobody in our group witnessed a single living creature while at sea.
Our biggest problem with this 'experience' was the boat. This was the second day of our holiday and we were white as sheep. Without any form of cover we were completely exposed to the blistering sun for hours, and as such received sunstroke and second degree burns. We couldn't even wrap ourselves in a towel as we were told to lock them in their storage box before departing. Because of this, the rest of our holiday was completely ruined. We had to cancel all the other plans we had and stay in our hotel until such time we could fly home to see a doctor.
As if that wasn't bad enough, even the 'experience' itself was complete rubbish. They simply took us out in their toy boat, strapped some flippers to us and dumped us overboard. The 'instructor' (who didn't speak English) did nothing but swim away from us saying 'come, come'. After a while of following him we released we were so far away from the dinghy we couldn't even see it any more, which caused real panic as we were not very strong swimmers and knew it would take all our energy just to get back. We even told him we were in trouble but he just shrugged and swam away.
If this isn't enough to put you off, the available 'snacks' they mention on their advertising are literally breadsticks and water.
Essentially their advertising is false which is illegal.
Based on our time with Chania Diving Center they are dishonest and dangerous, and we cannot advise strongly enough that you avoid.

My 12 year old and I did a 3 hour snorkeling trip. Everyone else on the trip did scuba, which I thought would be a problem, but it wasn't. We were taken first to an area near the coast, with lots of fish and a nice cave. The 2nd stop was nice with the divers going into deeper water, while we snorkeled in the shallower parts - up to about 5 meters, but mostly 1-3 meters. The staff were friendly. They gave up a bottle of water and a banana between locations. Drive time on the boat was minimal. Bring an underwater camera if you want photos.

Here with the corporation and we did a private tour with 2 dives with certified and uncertified divers, total 13people. We got two boats and the service was just perfect. It totally worth the price !! all inclusive of course
Did 2 dives, snorkeling tour, lunch break and beach break. A perfect day for chilling and enjoying crête from the Sea.
All the instructors speaks well English and are very helpful and organized, Christina was more than perfect to organize all that we asked. We didn’t wait nor have any negative words for this event. Really we enjoyed from the start to the end, and it’s from far the best service I experienced in a diving center (I’m PADI Rescue Diver and experienced a couples of centers already)
Not much more to say except that you can go there without doubt.
Thanks again it was a very pleasant day, just what we needed.

We are coming to Chania in September. The Elephant Cave sounds very exciting but would like to do a second dive the same day that includes sea life. Is that an option? We are both SSI certified but are infrequent divers. Thank you.

Hi, I am a novice certified diver and will be comming to Crete in late September. I will be comming with my wife and 1 year old son. I wanted to ask if it would be ok to bring them along on the boat trip? If at all possible to bring them along, she can do some snorkeling while I take care for the little one, when I am not diving. Do you think something like this could be manageable?

Thank you for your interest in our dive center. For non-certified divers we have the try scuba program. We do a theoretical part first for about 30 minutes and then you go diving at maximum depth 10 meters, always with an instructor.

We're coming in one week to Chania. We would like to try diving. We're begginers, never try before. How much is the cost? We don't have an equipment etc. What would you reccommend? :) How much time we should reserve for diving etc? One person can not swim very well - it will be a problem?

Hello Karolina,
We will be very glad to dive with us. For not certified divers we have the try scuba program, it is a program that allows you to get in and experience scuba under the direct supervision of one of our instructors, without committing to the full certification program. You will get to breath underwater and use the scuba equipment on a shallow dive (max 12 meters) as well as learn some of the very basics of diving.
The price is 70 euro per person if you want to do that from the beach, with out boat trip, and it a shore dive. We have also the try scuba program plus snorkeling plus boat trip. With this program we stop at two different places, at the first place there are some caves where you are going to do snorkeling as much hour as you want and then again by boat we go at the second place where you will do your diving. The price is 95 euro per person for the try scuba plus snorkeling plus boat trip..
In every program that you are going to choose the prices include the transfer from your hotel to the dive center and back, full equipment, water and snack during the break that you are going to have, guided dive, snorkeling and boat trip if you choose the second program and full insurance. And of course the instructors are all the time with you. We make small groups 2-3 persons per instructor for more safety and pleasure.
We start 9:00 in the morning and we finish at around 14:30-15:00 in the afternoon or if you want in the afternoon we start at around 14:30-15:00 and we finish at around 19:00.
