I am very disappointed by the price of the sunbeds plus umbrella. The person asked me for 10€ for the beds and 5€ for an umbrella. He said last year it was even 20€, and reading a comment on Trip Advisor 2017 it was then all together 7€- so what an increase. Travelling through Greek island this year with Corona and many years before I think for the quality of beds and even cleanliness (cigarettes, paper from last days) it is not correct. People also think twice if they want to spend money on the nearby cafes and restaurants so it should be a benefit for everyone.

Dear TheaLuise80, Thank you for your review and feedback. Kitroplatia is a one of a kind beach right in the city center with its pros and cons regarding that! We hope you got to appreciate the easy and quick access to a fully organized beach with crystal clear waters right in your doorstep! Next time you can also visit Karavostasi & Agios Panteleimonas maybe these are closer to your needs. There is a beach for everyone in Agios Nikolaos, as you see!

Tuesday 25th August and we visited the town of Agios Nikolaos. We walked along the coast road passing the statues the Abduction of Europa and the Horn of Amalthea, ending up at this Beach. It  took about 10 minutes to walk here. The beach is situated in the picturesque   Mirabello Bay and consists of sand and pebbles. There was a small section of the beach cordoned off, this was to protect where a turtle had laid its eggs. There were neat rows of sun loungers and umbrellas along the beach a bit crowded. Rather expensive to hire, €20 for 2 loungers and an umbrella. There was very little space left to spread out towels and beach mats. Translated from Greek Kitroplatia means citron square and it takes it's name from the flourishing citrus trade during the last century. There was a citron market on the beach.

Fabulous place for a leisurely swim or a quick dip. The sublime, clear waters of Mirabello Bay beckon all day long and into the early evening. Best time to swim is in the early morning. Then head to Deja Vue cafe on the waterfront for a traditional Cretan breakfast - a fabulous way to start your day!

We visited this beach whilst in Agios Nikolaos and found it to be expensive, two sunbeds and a brolly for €20. I suggest you venture towards the marina where that beach is cheaper, or go to the beach club near the football ground where you get good value and food

We spent a day with friends on this beach whilst staying in Agios Nikolias recently. Although it affords a lovely view, the beach is full of shingle and stones. 2 sunbeds and a brolly are 20 euros - even if you only stay for a few hours. Good vibe around the bay. Nice selection of beach bars/ cafes mostly frequented by younger holidaymakers.

Thank you for writing down your experience in our beach. And thank you for your kind words. Although it might be of some discomfort or take some time to appreciate, pebbles are a big reasons Kitroplatia has crystal clean waters as sand would mix up with the waves in shore. We hope you had a nice time eventually!
