If you want to have tasty, nice smelly, wonderful local fruits, vegetables, diary products, you should go to this market. They also have honey, different herbs, olives and olive oil, nuts, and some clothes in the corner of market. Some of seller has organic certificate. But it is quite busy place so it is gonna be not good place for small children.

The market is located in a narrow street that runs up from just behind the lake, up to the hospital. The fruit and vegetables are located at the top end of the street, with other items, shoes, clothing, and miscellaneous items lower down. You can also access the market by walking up the main street from near the Santa Marina Hotel. However this is a longer walk and all uphill. From what we could tell, the fruit, vegetables and cheeses appear to be quality local items, but much of the clothing, shoes, miscellaneous items, tools, etc were Chinese. As this market is located in a narrow street, I would not recommend it to anybody suffering from claustrophobia, or who objects to being occasionally pushed and shoved about. Similarly it is crowded, hot, and not wheelchair friendly.

We were told you could buy anything in this market and that was very near the mark
It is in a long street running from the lake to the Hospital and is full of stalls and humanity on both sides of the road
All the way up you saw rummage sale tables with clothes from 2 euros upwards
At the very top near the Hospital were the vegetable and fruit stalls
The whole road is covered by canopies which keeps the sun away but makes it very stuffy and hot
Not a good place if you are claustrophobic
However a great experience

If staying locally then definitely worth a visit. Fruit and vegetables on offer where of a good choice and variety. Clothes section may not not be to be everyone’s liking - you get what you pay for if you know what I mean.

The market is positioned on a street running up from port with stalls down one side and then a further street crossing this almost a t shape. There are possibly 80stalls many good fruit and veg stalls. Many selling tshirts shirts clothing. Bags. Household goods. Souvenirs. Toys. Books. There is a good variety and all is friendly and not too congested. Need a cafe amongst it or stall with seats to rest weary legs relax and reflect is all that's missing. Need to on some stalls have more competitive deals than surrounding shops. Fruit and veg however exceptional value.

My sister and I rented a car especially to visit the wednesday market in Agios Nikolaos but we were very disappointed.. There is not much to see. Also mind the road, I twisted my ankle going back down the road and none of the market workers even came to help while I was obviously in a lot of pain! Luckily some tourists and a friendly greek woman came to my aid. The town itself is beautiful!

We happened to be here on market day so spent an hour browsing and shopping. There were as many locals as tourists here and the fruit and vegetables displayed looked good. There were bargains too including several €1 clothes stalls which were unbelievably popular.

We bought a pair of rubber sandals and a pair of shorts at ok prices. Lots of produce, fruits, nuts, and housewares, hardware, and clothing for sales geared to locals and hit-and-run tourists.

Don’t go to the market with high expectations on range of products. Most of the stalls sell the same items so you will be disappointed if you expect a big range.
The stalls themselves are good and you can definitely pick up a few bargains on souvenirs and gifts.
If going by bus, my advice would be to wait to get off at the bus station at top of hill so you can walk down the market and get the bus back at the bottom.
It starts with a lot of stalls selling fruit and veg and some meat stalls in between. As you get further down you get to the T-shirt’s/ hoodies/ tracksuit stalls. All pretty much selling the same blag Adidas, Nike, Converse etc clothing. In amongst them are souvenir stalls where you can pick up some bargains on magnets, key rings, bracelets and toys. A little further down are the stalls selling household goods.
It’s a very busy market and mostly quite narrow so expect a lot of stop starting.
Took us around 45 minutes to walk from top to bottom
