What a beautiful walk! We’re so pleased we organised our trip with Tripadvisor as having the bus pick up and drop off and a tour guide made things so much easier! My boyfriend and I completed the 13.3km walk in just under 6 hours. It was hot and rocky but simply stunning! We’d definitely advise to wear grippy shoes, use sticks for balance and if you need to support your knees and take sunscreen and a bottle to refill. There are water refill taps from the gorge which are crystal clear and ice cold - as well as toilet points - throughout the walk. We were told to make sure you finish the walk before 2pm so start early or the heat will make the walk less enjoyable. It was €5 per adult to enter as it is a protected site Would 100% recommend!…

The gorge is a marvellous place to visit. The narrow path of the river is the most beautiful part of the track.

Avoid Samaria gorge tour form this company!!! Unorganized tour, unprofessional tour guide Everything is a mess from start to end. No clear information was given during the trip. They had around 80 tourists on the day but only have one tour guide to assist us. And the only job Athena, our tour guide, did is show off her multilingual skill. That’s it. We were constantly had to figure out what is happening. No information of where could we find the ferry; or if the ferry that about to leave the port is the one that we need to board (there were 2 ferries that supposed to leave at the same time, staff at the port was not able to communicate well to tourist and we have to run around to find out if we’re boarding the correct one). The company should have at least two tour guides, one to deliver ferry tickets and one to assist clients at the port. Or at least get better at organize a tour, not just money grabbing. After arrive at Skafia port, lots of us also have to running around to find the bus that will pick us up. This could be avoided if tour guide gathers everyone at the port and then go to the bus together. However, no advance info that we should meet at the bus station (there is only one bus station in Sfakia but as tourist, we don’t know that so we have to run around to confirm that! After just hike 16km!!!) Athena told us to find the bus number 21, but there was no bus 21 in Sfakia bus station. At the end, we found our pick-up bus, which now become number 17 and 18??? And the attitude of Athina when saw us was rushing and pushing us to get to the bus, not even an apologize about all the confusion the company caused due to unorganized bus management. At the break stop, tour guide should tell us in advance where to pay to buy food, where to pick up food and where is the toilet. We had none. If you are confused at a new place, you’re on your own. The tour guide was busy doing something else. Some people waste long time queue at the pickup line and realize that they had to queue to paid in a separate line. When drop-off, Athina already long gone and we only had the driver, who has very limit English. He tried to tell us whoever stay in Heraklion need to get off to get into a smaller bus. We were all confuse and don’t know if we should stay or get off to change, what is happening and no one could help us as the tour guide was long gone! Definitely not recommend this tour!…

We decided to do a day trip. Almost 8 hours on transportation (ferry, bus). Our trip from Rethymno was cancelled and we had to go by bus to leave from Heraklion (added quite a few hours to the trip). You spend less than 5 hours on Santorini. No time to see or experience anything. But, could have found something better to do in Crete and bought a postcard of Santorini as it is a tourist trap. Wouldn’t recommend to do for anyone. Also, tour offered breakfast and dinner. Literally, packaged bread for breakfast/lunch with a tiny piece of meat in some of the breads. Total waste of food as no one was eating them. Better to buy something off the ferry.…
