If you are staying in Piraeus town you quickly get used to appalling pavements, empty shops, graffiti, spilt garbage and a general feeling of things being rather run down. But if you wander over the hill into the marina at the Bay of Zea it's another world.
Gleaming yachts cram the bay marina. The beautiful (and not so beautiful) people of Piraeus and Athens come to promenade, sip iced coffee and show off their tans.
The prom is awash with cafes and restaurants competing for your custom. You can happily sit and dream away a couple of hours people watching here.
When we were there in July there were dozens of book stalls along the prom. Don't know if this was temporary or a regular feature.

First time to spend a week living in a private residence rental. Walks along the harbour at any time revealed a sailors Paradise. Try sunset sailings and delight in the most treasured experience

Walk around the crescent shaped bay (slow walk takes about 30 minutes) and you will envy those living around Pasalimani. enjoy a drink in one of the many cafeterias or if you have the stamina add another 15 minutes of vertical walk to the Prophitis Ilias café BLOW , where you can get a perfect panoramic bird's eye view of Pasalimani

It is a must-see place in Athens. You can enjoy the view by walking at the marina. There are several restaurants and cafes to spend nice time day and night.

Nice town. Got there with sight seeing bus. Not much information provided by the tours.

Fabulous city with many good shops and streets. Bay of Zea was our main aim and enjoyed the calm positive vibes.

It is second in size after the large main port, and one of the three natural harbors of Piraeus.

At the southern point of Passalimani, Marina Zeas is a jetty used as a dock for some of the most impressive and luxurious yachts and cruisers belonging mostly to Greek ship owners.

At the quayside there are several café bars and restaurants and at one end of the marina you can visit the Hellenic Naval Museum that houses a nice collection of boats (scale models).

Directions: On the eastern coast of Piraeus peninsula, 1.5 km from Piraeus metro station.

The best way to get to know Piraeus is by walking nonstop. Look for great spots where you can have spectacular views then head down to the beach. You will find several places to eat and relax. Do not expect soft sands, there beaches are rocky! One of the coolest places I have visited for sure!

The hotel recommended taking a jaunt to the Bay of Zea which was not that far away. They said that this is where the wealthy keep their boats. We walked there during the day and were fascinated. Then on a Saturday night we walked to the Marina and discovered that this was "the" place to go on a Saturday night. Everyone was their with their families and walking their dogs. You can take the stairs down to the wharf and see all kinds of vessels from locally owned to huge yachts from around the world. There wasa great music with music and entertainment. All kinds of outdoor cafes and restaurants. We stopped and enjoyed some great ice cream and Fix beer.
There is no need to worry about finding restrooms. There are portable W.C.s everywhere.
Bring your camera. You will be taking lots of photos. There are monuments and beautiful scenery . Go there during the day and above all. a Saturday night!!!
