About
In PANTOPOLION we have already gathered and constantly enrich a small treasure of authentic flavors by small producers from every corner of Greece & we create unique dishes, tastes that are lost in our time. We have all the Greek beverages (tsipouro, tsikoudia-raki, ouzo, wines, the best Greek beers, liqueurs), a very large variety of honey, jams and spoon sweets, an extensive range of salty, sweet, fish snacks and above all an excellent collection of cheeses and cold cuts. The shop also serves as a traditional tavern, you can sit in the few tables and taste true Greece at the same prices we sell retail!

The common assessment of Athens is that you don't need much more than a few nights to see the highlights and then ferry yourself off to an island. If you like good beer, authentic Greek food, and the memories that can be created when meeting genuinely hospitable Greeks like Ioannis (Johnny), Stavros (Stephen), and their friends, than you must extend your stay long enough to experience Pantopolion. We will never visit Greece again without returning to see our friends at Pantopolion.

We were drawn in because we were looking for a beer store (beyond the Alfa and Fix available at the kiosk) and found a completely delightful experience. The owner and the employee who served us the tasting (cheeses, olive oil, dolmades, bread, etc.) were super knowledgeable, welcoming and warm. It took about 45 minutes and at only 4euro per person, glasses of wine included, it was more than worth it for the experience. A really lovely stop-off in a sector of town that's a little bit less touristy.

A true treasure of Athens for all those that wish to taste and enjoy the best Greece has to offer. My wife and I popped into Pantopolion while walking through the markets and knew from the moment we walked in we had found something special. The owners have a genuine passion for locally sourced food, wine, spirits and all the Greek delicacies you can imagine. It is not cliche to say the welcome was warm because it genuinely was. The owner took the time to answer every question, made wonderful suggestions for things we may enjoy and his smile was infectious. It is possible to taste much of the wonderful produce on display before your purchase and there was no pressure to buy. It was one of the most memorable experiences of Greek hospitality we had. After our time in the islands we returned to Athens and returned to Pantopolion to purchase more of the delicious products on offer and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere. Lucky the laughter and smiles were free because we had plenty before we left. Thank you and we wish you every success.

This is 'the' place if you're a real foodie. The product quality and variety are just amazing. The hosts are super nice people and very authentic. They take pride in their food and are not pushy or trying to sell you things. We ended up spending our entire evening there, dining and making new Greek friends. I highly recommend the Greek yogurt with 'rose jam' topping. Could never get enough of that!

Absolutely fantastic shop, a gem in the Athens flea market.
The two guys that run this shop are incredibly lovely and made us feel very welcomed and were more than happy to talk about all their products and their history.
A great range of Greek liqueurs, craft beers, cheese, meat and olive oils.

After viewing the ancient sites around the Acropolis, I was encouraged to visit the flea market. Although I am not into commercialism near historic areas, the recommendation was strong from multiple people.
The flea market is an appropriate name. It is a street lined with shops. The only shop I stopped at was Pantopolion, a small family authentic Greek store. They are a small store specializing in regionally sourced foods. It is a farm to table type experience where the know the producers of the food they sell.
Pantopolion had an offering of "An authentic Greek gastronomic experience. As I had seen the commercialism of many area restaurants, I welcomed this experience.
The menu started with a selection of cheeses, tomato's, bread and wine. It alone was a huge amount. The tasting continued with a selection of salads, olives and yogurt. One salad was a smoked eggplant, it was unique and very flavorful. The eggplant salad was said to incorporate all of the seasonal vegetables in Greece. And then the meat plate with salami, game, pork roast and chicken. It was truly exceptional.
Throughout the tasting, a description was provided of the source of every ingredient. Aside from the description, I was able to get a greater cultural understanding of Greek people.
Aside from the stunning history, this tasting has been the highlight of my trip. It is a "must" when in Athens!
