Address
Neighborhood: Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.

We love this Gallery with it's vibrant colorful or unique art pieces. We visited almost all the Galleries around the Athens central area and Pandora was our favorite.
We fell in love with a piece 4 years ago but could not afford it at the time. After a return visit we sought out the Gallery again ended up purchasing a piece by the same artist. We live overseas so were obviously apprehensive about shipping a large painting, but Pandora looked after all the shipping, authenticity certificate, insurance etc. with the painting arriving a few weeks later in perfect condition.
We now have a great painting, that we love, by a Greek artist and will visit Maya and the gallery when we go back.

Absolutely loved the place. As soon as walked in overwhelmed by the paintings on display. Unfortunately, one cannot take photographs in the gallery. Great art work by artists. I could have sat there all day spellbound by some of the artwork. A must see when visiting the area even if one can only dream of buying as prices are quite high!

Every item is unique, and amazing.

There were some lovely pieces of art work, but as the price tags were 4 digit numbers, they are only few the select few to actually buy.

This is not a gallery, is a shop.
Galleries exhibit, curate and promote art, this place only sale to tourists.
Though there are a very few nice works the majority of them are just kitch ugly stuff aim to a tourist market.
They sell copies of classic Greek potery (40,000 euros, for a big pot) prints and paintings that you probably can find cheaper some where else in the area.

There are three levels of Art Galleries, the first are the entry level where Art galleries exhibit several Solo exhibitions from young or emerging artists to the local market, the second category is art Galleries that belong to the secondary art market that resell established artist either as Art dealers, Art Brokers or as is in the case as Pandora Art Gallery since 1975, who also supplies travelers, collectors or auction houses respectively. Correctly noted Pandora Art Gallery supplies Art works as paintings, sculptures and ceramics across the globe due to its unique position in a busy square on 70 Adrianou st. A tourist zone under the shadow of the Acropolis in the Old Town of Plaka, the third category are the large Institutions private or public art museums.
As for what is beautiful to one observer is ugly to another’s eye, would you call a cactus kitsch as an ugly plant compared to a delicate red Rose. We do have a few special clients who only buy Kitsch (/ˈkɪtʃ/; loanword from German, also called cheesiness and tackiness is a low-brow style of mass-produced art or design using popular or cultural icons. )
Pandora Art Gallery sells rare copies of classic style Greek pottery by Greece’s unique acclaimed potter Josef Kiromitis (1951-2012) who passed away a few years ago from cancer at the age of 61. The Gallery carries and represents the families last unique pots that Kiromitis kept true all his life and are 100% in Authentic Classical Greek styles that do not mimic but follow the old tradition of hand picked pigments and clays personally processed from Attica (not commercially bought) to a complete traditional of underground wooden oven (not electric) and a process that takes months to finally come of age.
Kiromitis pottery range from 3.000 to 80.000 euros. You may see his last pieces www.pandora.gr/josef-kiromitis.html of which almost 55% of it value is actually high Greek business tax , credit card commissions, operating costs, and a heavy 23% VAT, this also includes insurance, delicate crate boxing and door to door UPS service worldwide.
Josef Kiromitis (Bio): In 1968 he moved to Athens, studied the art of painting and drawing in the Greek-Italian School of art “Bennelli”, from where he graduated with the highest mark in his class of 1970.
Kiromitis attending a vigorous private courses of painting in the Atelier of Professor Bassilis Korkovelos graduating in 1972. Part of his training took him on a journey of mystical adventure into the corridors of Antiquity, studying and examining on the spot the exhibits of the Archaeological Museum of Athens, as well as other Hellenic Museums, public exhibitions and private collections thru out the country side.
Through this research he became a great enthusiast of the Hellenic Antiquity, understanding the Greek myths and history of the people that brought light to humanity. This prompted him to create not ordinary replicas, but classical revivals, using the same natural clays and pigments, fired in the same chambers using wood as a source, following the same motifs and patterns of the lost Ancient Hellenic technique based on the myths and the history that exists for thousands of years.
Artistic and spiritual three periods:
1968 - 1972 Landscapes and still life paintings in oils and watercolors.
1972 - 1986 Classical pottery, of Hellenic Antiquity. More than 200 ceramic vessels of the Attic period, were made by Kiromitis, and sold through the Musée du Louvre, Paris.
1986 - 2012 The third and the most creative era of Kiromitis, includes his pottery and paintings inspired from the Hellenic historical events and Myths of the Gods.
Kiromitis has had 7 Solo Art Exhibitions and participated in over 15 group exhibitions in Greece and Internationally. His art work has spread across the globe and is in many private collections.
***
Pandora Art Gallery does not offer prints as you must have confused the hand made unique water colors that so many travelers buy from the United Kingdom and Canada that range between 60, 150 and 350 euros. As for the Paintings the few Artists are resident painters, but do not confuse similar subject by other art shops as the same Artist.
Thank you for coming by the Gallery I hope you enjoyed your visit in Athens.

High end art gallery with a boutique feel. Extremely nice manager. Expensive but world class art....not for souvenir hunters. But you can find something great for several hundred euros.

My friends and I have been visiting Pandora for over 13 years. We have enjoyed our cherished pieces in our homes. Take your time and browse the gallery. There will be no pressure. Have a drink while you decide. You will be very pleased with your purchase. When you return home, you will remember your special time in Athens each time you admire your treasure.

I wish we could have bought more! We felt cared for, trusted and respected by Miya, the proprietress. She walked me to the local ATM for a nominal ‘cash’ down payment and had my husband ‘mark’ the back of our purchase so we’ll KNOW it’s the one we bought when it arrives in Texas.
Definitely check it out if you like having that ‘one of a kind’ souvenir!

We have visited the Pandora Art Gallery on two occasions, and have always marveled at the wonderful works of art. We have purchased a sculptured wall art by Giannis Nanouris, a separate sculpture by the same artist and an oil painting by Spyros Georgas. All the art has been shipped by the gallery to our home in Colorado and has arrived in a timely fashion and in excellent condition. Maia Netis is so much fun to work with and we enjoyed our visits immensely. We will go back.

We visited Pandora while on a cruise. The gallery is very modern & offers a huge range of art - presented in a clear & informative manor. We had great, non pushy, but professional help from the staff.
We decided to buy a (in our view!) painting on canvas of apples - so good you could reach out & take an apple & eat it !!!!!
2 weeks later in the UK our painting was delivered in the most secure protective covering. The picture & all paperwork present. Before hand the gallery had called & emailed me to confirm it had been despatched etc.
We will visit again this year. A pleasure to deal with such a professional company - thank you :-))))
