We had two excellent private tours with Angelos, the first covering the Acropolis and the second, the following day, the ancient Agora. Angelos is an intelligent and charming guide and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. He brought the ancient sites to life with his entertaining stories and was happy to discuss anything and everything without sticking to a script. His prices were reasonable compared to other quotes we had got for private tours and I would not hesitate in recommending him - you will not be disappointed.

You can never go wrong with a Rick Steves recommendation! We had an outstanding day seeing Athens through a passionate local and loved every minute of it. Angelos went out of his way to get to know us and show us all that Athens had to offer. He even gave us a couple of recommendations on things to do in the morning prior to meeting up with him in the afternoon. AMAZING Day!

Angelos Kokkaliaris is an energetic, knowledgeable, entertaining, personable, and humorous guide. Of course he gave us a tour of the required sights (Acropolis and museum, subway, Parliament, etc.), but we got more information from Angelos than the sights contained. He taught us Greece’s political history, past and present economic pressures, the country’s mythological underpinnings, the razing and rebuilding of specific areas by different nations, modern archeological efforts and international art dealing, and on and on. He asked some questions about us at the start, and later when he told historical stories he tied what he had learned about us into the stories, comparing our lives to what the Gods and Goddesses were doing. From atop the Acropolis (which is supposed to be a destination in itself) he gave us a visual tour of the neighborhoods around Athens and showed us where to find all the shops and restaurants we were looking for. Angelos was outstanding. If we ever make it to Athens again, we’ll skip the walking around bit and pay him to give us a lecture over dinner.

The three of us had a fantastic experience during the museum and acropolis tour!! Anna was a fountain of knowledge that could express that wealth in an interesting way!
As we walked the Acropolis Museum it quickly became evident that we would have missed so much of the nuance without Anna’s insights.
That museum background continues as we scaled the paths to the Acropolis.
Well worth the investment given the four hours of interesting guiding.
A must for all Athens visitors !

We had a wonderful tour with Angelos, who was very informative and entertaining in his tour of the ancient Agora and Acropolis. We have three teens who he kept engaged (not always easy to do!) and who learned a lot and really enjoyed the tour. Angelos was very personable and easy to ask questions about the historic sites as well as anything about Greece.
This tour was even more amazing given that a major earthquake had occurred several hours earlier, causing power outages and significant damage in Athens. Angelos was still able to meet us even though he was obviously concerned about his city, and also took care to find out how this would affect our tour (e.g. site closings). He also kept us informed about the earthquake, which fortunately didn’t cause too much damage.

I saw recommendations about Angelos and his tours on tripadviser and contacted him to do a tour of the Acropolis and a day tour of Argolis. He responded promptly with so much information and provided information on tickets and restaurants, With a teenager it was important to find someone to keep him interested and learn. I can highly recommend Angelos. He is amazing tour guide. He was more than a tour guide, explaining the history of Athens as we went to the Acropolis. He has a real passion and knowledge of history etc and this comes over. We loved his tours. He lent my son his owl and book to read. The day tour to Argolis was amazing. He organised the vehicle and tour and explained everything to us on the journey, answering all our questions. The driver was also great and friendly. I would highly recommend Angelos. If we come again to Greece we will definatley organise more tours. He is so friendly and you learn so much. He was always prompt to collect us at the hotel and gave great recommendations for restaurants. Thank you, Angelos for your brilliant tours,

We hired Angelos Kokkaliaris to give us a private tour of the Acropolis. He was outstanding. We learned a lot about Greek history, the Acropolis, as well as various sites in Athens. I highly recommend him. He can be reached at angelo@athenswalkingguide.com or 697-412-7127. We got his name from the Rick Steven Greece, Athens & Peloponnese book.

I would like to very highly recommend Kiki, a private tour guide who I booked through the Ava Hotel. I had her show me the archeological sites yesterday, then the sites of the city most tourists do not see today. The market, local sites, etc. She is very knowledgable, personable and helpful. She is excellent. Well worth it. I feel that I saw in two tours what most tourists would never see in a week here. More like a friend. Her # is 6946711973. Fabulous!

We meet this "master of ceremony" in the Metro station under the foot of the Acropolis. Punctual to the minute @ 8:30 a.m. showing us statues of Greek Gods and legends. He begins his colorful and memorable journey though time and we are we are along for this adventure. We had 12 year old twins in tow so the pressure was on particularly given the 100 degree heat.
From the engaging sarcastic method to looking at details, floor plans, and photos on the steps after a long climb ( with many stops for shade and wonderful stories of myth and history) in the shade of Acropolis. Angelos held our attention with facts, humor and class. He took us on a winding path through history on our way down though a small town and we parted ways at an outdoor taverna where he made sure we where served our midday feast correctly. Bravo Angelos...the 12 year old twins approved and so did we.
best regards and thank you so much,
Lauren, Steve, & the twins.
