Unforgetable 3 days trip to Delphes and Meteors with Alternative Athens - do not miss it !

We have booked with Alternative Athens a 3 days private trip to Delphes and Meteors end of October 2021. While searching on the internet, Alternative Athens seemed to me to be the most serious and attractive tour organizer. Very prompt to reply to your requests and up to the point. The program was very interesting. Our guide Vassia met us in our hotel in Athens and we moved onto our tour first to Delphes on the 1st day and then to the Meteors the 2nd and 3rd day and back to Athens. The trip was great, very good driver and Vassia our guide was just excellent, very knowledgeable about greek history and mythology. Every time she was telling a story about greek gods and mythology, we were so captivated, just like kids watching a Disney movie. Through Alternative Athens, with Vassia, we had the great chance to discover some exceptionnal sites that are really outside regular site seeing tours such as the holy monastery of the Holy Cross in Doliana of Krania. We also had a chance to do some wine tasting at the great wine Domain of Liakou, excellent wines, unbelievable. And of course we have visited several monasteries built on the Meteors, this is something that you cannot forget. I do strongly recommend Alternative Athens and in particular Vassia as a highly professional guide for tours in Greece and in Athens. I just regret that we did not have enough time in Athens to visit the city through a mythology approach with Vassia.

Amazing tour

Really brilliant street art tour with Nikos - one of my holiday highlights. He’s genuinely incredibly knowledgable about the street art scene and shared a fascinating perspective on what’s happening in Athens - informative, personable and great company. Thank you Nikos and Alternative Athens.

One of the best experience in Athens

Just had the Food tour today, it was one of our best experience in Athens. The guy (Andereas) was super nice and kind. Everything was fluent and super clear! He took us to local places and told us about the history of the city and the places we visited. If you’re around, do yourself a favor and don’t skip this one!

Wonderful food tour of Athens with Christina!

This tour was informative and the tour guide Christina was the best! Were were able to experience the food of Athens through the eyes of someone who has lived her whole life in this wonderful city. We got to see first hand the shops and restaurants where the local Athenians go to get their daily food needed in preparing these wonderful dishes. We went to restaurants that we would have easily passed by without the guidance of our tour guide. We got to try food from places in Athens that only the locals know about. We felt that our experience was as if we were a local Athenian ourselves and were participating in the daily food routines of this country. It was a remarkable and unforgettable food experience and we now feel that we have made a new friend in Christina. Because of Christina's studies to become a licensed guide of the city, she was able to provide additional information on the history of Greece and the places we visited. My wife and I highly recommend this tour and this tour guide to anyone that wants to experience the cuisine of Athens!

BEAUTIFUL AFTERNOON ON A PRIVATE TOUR ON THE ATHENIAN RIVIERA & CAPE SOUNION

We spent an excellent afternoon on a Private Tour to discover the Athenian Riviera and Cape Sounion with Josephine. She is very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and she has a real desire to share the history and beauty of her country with the people she meets. She totally adapted to our family and took care to answer all our questions, and to recommend us the places she likes in Athens, her favorite restaurants and to give us her tips ... I highly recommend Alternative Athens for your tours. I will surely book with them again when we return to Athens for a future stay!

The alternative experience we were looking for!

An amazing journey that combines getting to know the city and observing its street art. Definitely a wonderful experience for everyone who is interested in finding out what is the message that these walls want to get across and learn about the work of talented artists. Andreas was passionate and while keeping his explanations brief and to the point, he encourage us to provide our view of the piece of art we were observing at that time. A tour for people of all ages that you do not want to miss when in Athens!

Guides with knowledge and passion

We did the full day tour covering both ancient and modern Athens. Our guides Kostas (historic part) and Andreas (modern Athens) are really good. Their knowledge and passion for their different areas was impressive and made our visit to Athens so interesting and joyful. I highly recommend everyone to take a tour arranged by Alternative Athens, and if you’re lucky you will get Kostas and Andreas as your guides - they make a difference!

Best tour ever!

Did the 4 hour mythology tour with Magda. It was superb. Very well organised - guides were where they said they would be and it was very straightforward. Magda was so friendly and informative and as this was our first morning in Athens we felt truly welcome. I did think 4 hours might be a bit much but we went at a good pace with plenty of time for photos, questions and reflection. If we had been staying for longer we would have done another type of tour - but we will be back!

Wonderful evening with lots of laughter and fun while we learned about Greek culture and made Gyros from scratch!

We had a wonderful cooking lesson tour with Dionysia. She was friendly, personable, and genuinely as interested in us as we were in learning about her and her culture. She made the cooking fun — and the results were delicious — as well as helping us understand the Greek personality. We made gyros from scratch — something I will definitely do at home. The evening in her home was relaxed and comfortable and we would love to repeat the experience with another menu.

Wonderful Home Cooked Meal in an Athenians' home

We normally do some sort of food tour when exploring a new location. This opportunity to have a Home cooked meal in someone's home was very intriguing to us. We were provided a wonderful authentic Greek meal as well as great conversation regarding life and challenges both in my country as well as within Greece. Personal perspective added much understanding and interest to our entire trip. Did I mention the Meal was wonderful, and we would have been satisfied with just that!
