Neighborhood: Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.

The beauty and glamor of the Ioannidou Art Gallery is so intense you can't resist entering and admiring the unique pieces of art.
Xanthi, an artist with an endless inspiration and kindness, presenting Paintings as an individual expression of her inner emotion. Her cycladic-themed paintings are modern and abstract and express the unique talent of a great artist.
The Gallery, in the shadow of the Acropolis at the entrance of Plaka is filled with art and love for the beauty.
Her artwork is already coloring many houses all over the world and also ours in Belgium. "A Thing of Beauty is a Joy forever" and the artist gives you that feeling and pleasure - Efcharisto Xanthi !! And if you are lucky you can enjoy one of the spontaneous organized life music nights ...We will be back !!! H&G

Xanthi Ioannidou conquers visitors with her very creative works and her friendliness. I appreciated the excellent good taste of the whole gallery. And also the unimposing and relaxed atmosphere of the place. Lovely place.

My wife and I were on a half day tour and finished in the area last October. We can't resist to pop in the shop when we passed by the shop and saw the artworks from outside. We end up buying two artworks. The two artworks are now hanging in our living room and we just can't stop looking at both of them.

Ms Ioannidou is a wonderful artist. My daughter and I visited her gallery several years ago and I purchased a painting which Ms Ioannidou shipped for me. When my husband and I were touring Plaka in April 2015 we made a special effort for me to return to her gallery. Once we entered the gallery and she began to show us her newest paintings we could not resist. We purchased another one! They give me such joy and every time I look at them .. many fond memories of my trips to Athens.

Mrs. Ioannidou welcomes you into her gallery and makes you feel at home. Her work is fantastic, and varied, so there is something for every taste. She is full of ideas and never stops exploring and creating. My husband and I have bought a number of paintings from her.

Walking around ancient Athens we stumbled into a small art installation by accident - it was right in front of Ioannidou Art Gallery. We were amazed how authentic and genuine Xanthia’s works are. The artist and owner was there and welcomed us warmly. It was a short but very memorable highlight of our trip (magic is everywhere)

Very nice little gallery. The local artist makes antien cycladic inspired art with a modern twist. She was very sweet and reasonable with the prices. I would highly recommend this gallery to anyone interested in a unique piece of art that are relevant to ancient Greece and yet fitting for a mordern home.

Every day I am having my break from work at Xanthi's gallery. She is so kind letting me rest my mind and sight to her lovely paintings! Her work completely reflects herself.. modern but traditional at the same time, gives you a warm feeling in the hart and ! Every day you hear laughs and songs and the piano playing ! It s a small place with deep cultural impact! Thank you!
