My husband and I went on the Athen Food Tour with Despina. This was my husband's choice and we both loved it. Despina was very knowledgeable and taught us about the food, the regions of Greece and the history. We tasted many different foods. Definitely would recommend the tour -- make sure you ask for Despina.

Our guide,Artemis, was informative and enjoyed her job. Got to see areas of Athens we would not have found on our own. Food was delicious at every stop and the tavern/shop owners were always happy to see us.

Our guide Costas was the best. Very passionate about his job and the food and culture of Athens. Must come hungry as there is alot of different foods to taste and try. Had a great time and wonderful food that the normal tourist would not get a chance to experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed our foodie tour. In addition to sampling some foods that we would have otherwise missed, our guide gave us lots of interesting information about the city and its culture. Come hungry!

We did the Athens Walking Tours' Food Tour and enjoyed every moment of it. Vicki, our guide, gave a good perspective on the food habits of the Greeks. Vicki promised that we would see a different Athens during the tour and the tour lived up to its promise. Rather than go to touristy eating places, Vicki guided us to smaller,... More

My wife, daughter and I very much enjoyed the Athens Food Tour. Evangelos was a terrific guide and we learned a lot about the foods of Athens and its amazing neighborhoods. It was a great way to experience the historic center of Athens while sampling all kinds of interesting foods. Highly recommended!

My daughter and I had the best day walking round Athens. We saw the sites learned a lot of history. Visiting the food markets and restaurants that were run by passionate people who loved what they did. As did our guide

Artemis led us around the streets of Athens with a passion for the food of Greece and interesting tidbits of inside information about greek life to share. There was a wide range of delicious food to taste and if I could I'd do it all again. Thank you Artemis for a memorable morning in Athens.

Our small group worked well for wending through the streets and sampling. We enjoyed learning what we liked and what we would not order. Information provided about the origin of the foods, drinks, and mastic, was great. Ending the tour with a nice lunch was a bonus we had not expected. We have been on food tours in New York... More

Booked a1/2 day Athens food tour via there website, located by positive reviews across the Internet. Met 22 people at 9:30 who were quickly split into 2 groups to keep the groups small (refreshingly true to there word, unlike other tour companies we have experienced in the past who over book). Cheakily asked our tour leader Despina if she was... More

Staying in Omonia

Neighborhood Profile
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
