Neighborhood: Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.

We were attracted to the wood villages on display at this shop, recognizing that they were handcrafted and unique. This would be the perfect addition to my travel shelves where I display houses and villages from my travels. Petros said it could be shipped to the US for a very reasonable cost. My olive wood village arrived and it is even more beautiful than I remembered. Great place to find unique, high quality, hand crafted pieces!

While wandering and seeking ideal gifts and souvenirs, we came upon The Olive tree. The owner was sincere and personable. As a matter of fact, of all the people I met in Athens, he stood out as being the most genuine. I looked I had a few items, including a chess set, and then told him that I would most likely return later in the day after going back to my hotel room, I realize that I needed to purchase the chess set, and I needed to go back to the olive tree because of the integrity and customer service that was extended to me by the owner. I purchased the chess set and I’m so glad that I did because it’s absolutely beautiful and the price was fair. I highly recommend this business to anyone who is visiting Athens.

Fantastic products and equally as fantastic people. Everything in the store is beautiful, the only difficulty is figuring out how to get it all back home. If you see more than you are able to carry they offer shipping to just about anywhere in the world. Upon getting home I had an issue with one of the items I had purchased and the staff went above and beyond and sent a replacement item. I could not recommend this store more and will certainly return anytime I am in Athens. There are many olive wood stores in the city but very few possess the quality of pieces that this store does. A+ products and A+ people.

If you appreciate objects, salad bowls, kitchen utensils, boards made from olive wood, you've come to the right place. The objects are very tasteful, well made and the prices are fair. The service was attentive. It is located on Adrianou Street.

Amazing, patient, and kind service. This is THE olive wood shop in Athens. We couldn’t help ourselves to get several pieces, including a spoon, salad forks, a cup, and a beautiful cutting board… and the owner threw in a small gift as well. We will probably go back one more time before we leave just to be tempted by the 1000 year old cutting board wood.

We stumbled into Olive Tree walking around Plaka and we are very grateful we did. The owner educated us on all the items we were interested in and we ended up leaving with some kitchen utensils, a komboloi and a bracelet. We would have purchased more had we had more room in our suitcases for gifts. If authentic wood products are at all of interest for you or for those you love as gifts, you should visit the Olive Tree.

Living in Athens, I've had plenty of time to search out the best olive wood shops. I was shocked that the best one I've discovered so far would be in such a touristy neighborhood (the Plaka). The quality of the Olive Tree products are fantastic, it's not just some guy buying olive wood products from a distributor. They know their products, and they experiment with new products all the time. Whenever I have friends visiting from out of town, the Olive Tree is the place I bring them, and all of them have been able to find something nice to bring home. I can't recommend this place enough, the service is great, and the products are great. If you're wandering in the Plaka, make sure to stop in this store, it's much higher quality than many of the other similar shops in the neighborhood.

Hello, you can come to the store by Syntagma metro station or from Acropolis metro station. The store is 5 minutes walking from these 2 stations.
