Immaculate and elegant, the Hammam Baths proved to be an exceptionally restful and enjoyable experience and a souvenir of the Ottoman past of Greece. Having experienced hammams in Turkey and authentic styles of massage all over the world, I found the treatment here expert and soothing. It is a lovely place and a special treat.

I visited this hammam today as a gift for my friend and she was delighted also. It's very well organised. First you change to your (own) swimming suit then you enter the hammam after 15 min you get a massage ( I take Ali-mama formula and add an extra named Arazi). They offered you a cup of tea with a... I've never done a Hammam bath before, but my friends have. This one was nice, although an area with a nice cool down room would have been nicer. I did very much enjoy the full treatment option, with the scrub down and massage and such.

I was staying at the Jason Hotel across the street when I discovered Hamman on my own. IT was an incredible experience which I enjoyed and after walking with pain all day it was greatly needed. After sitting in Steam room for 20 mins, I was led to marble table to lay down and the experience began, a scrub with... More

For my last night in Athens I treated myself to the "Ali-Mama" Hammam. Absolutely no regrets! The staff were very polite and professional. 5.30pm was the perfect time of day, the heat of the day had passed and following a beautiful pampering I was in perfect time for a sunset dinner. Top of the list when it comes to my... More

I went there for an Ali Mama and 30 minutes dry room massage. When I went there I was welcomed by an employee. A guy showed me around and took me to the changing area. They provided me with a set of wooden clogs which had hair on them (never worn them) and a towel. I went to the hammam,... More

Staying in Psirri / Gazi

Neighborhood Profile
Psirri / Gazi
Side-by-side neighborhoods Psirri and Gazi provide some of the city’s prime nightlife. The almost claustrophobic streets of Psirri feature an interesting blend of original small businesses with the restaurants, cafés and bars that have recently sprouted up. The central artery of Agion Anargiron Street has lively places to eat or drink. Further west, you can visit the peaceful ancient cemetery of Keramikos, then cross busy Pireos Street to find yourself in Gazi. With the huge Technopolis performance and art complex converted from old gasworks at its heart, you really have to come at night to appreciate this maze of bars at its best, although a daytime stroll will allow you to admire the excellent street art.
