It was my first time in hammam. The place is very clean. Choose the "Ali mamma" package (45 euro per person) who includes the massage because the simple one without the massage is not something special. Make a reservation by telephone before you go.

We stayed at O&B Athens Boutique Hotel--also highly recommended--and Hamman Baths was a mere five minute walk. The hot room ritual of pouring water on oneself--perspiring and purifying oneself became a self-centering experience. The scrub and massage that followed was sublime and happens two at a time in a semi-public space adjacent to the circular hot room. The therapist was... More

Literally my best massage experience ever! I could have been spread like butter after this massage. So good that we sometimes joke about going back to Athens just to go back here! Enjoy!

We heard great things about this spa and wanted to try it as we had never done a hammam or Turkish Bath. The experience was great and would recommend it. As we were first timers I would have liked a bit of an orientation and explanation of what to expect. We sat in the hammam not really knowing what to... More

Who would have imagined that in the centre of ancient Athens, in Thiseion, could experience such a great Turkish hammam! The place is very clean and the staff are highly professional. Definitely recommend!

Immaculate and elegant, the Hammam Baths proved to be an exceptionally restful and enjoyable experience and a souvenir of the Ottoman past of Greece. Having experienced hammams in Turkey and authentic styles of massage all over the world, I found the treatment here expert and soothing. It is a lovely place and a special treat.

I visited this hammam today as a gift for my friend and she was delighted also. It's very well organised. First you change to your (own) swimming suit then you enter the hammam after 15 min you get a massage ( I take Ali-mama formula and add an extra named Arazi). They offered you a cup of tea with a... I've never done a Hammam bath before, but my friends have. This one was nice, although an area with a nice cool down room would have been nicer. I did very much enjoy the full treatment option, with the scrub down and massage and such.

I was staying at the Jason Hotel across the street when I discovered Hamman on my own. IT was an incredible experience which I enjoyed and after walking with pain all day it was greatly needed. After sitting in Steam room for 20 mins, I was led to marble table to lay down and the experience began, a scrub with... More

Staying in Psirri / Gazi

Neighborhood Profile
Psirri / Gazi
Side-by-side neighborhoods Psirri and Gazi provide some of the city’s prime nightlife. The almost claustrophobic streets of Psirri feature an interesting blend of original small businesses with the restaurants, cafés and bars that have recently sprouted up. The central artery of Agion Anargiron Street has lively places to eat or drink. Further west, you can visit the peaceful ancient cemetery of Keramikos, then cross busy Pireos Street to find yourself in Gazi. With the huge Technopolis performance and art complex converted from old gasworks at its heart, you really have to come at night to appreciate this maze of bars at its best, although a daytime stroll will allow you to admire the excellent street art.
