It's one of the attractions you just can't miss. We visited when the prices had just increased, which in itself wasn't an issue but we wished we had paid for the Acropolis on it's own and not the bulk ticket as many of the other sites weren't open and we didn't visit a few others, meaning we actually lost money... Went to go see the Acropolis today with a group of university friends. We've all taken courses in Ancient Greece and were really looking forward to this trip. Needless to say we all thought we knew our stuff. We decided to tag along with a tour group that was setting out at the time we were, with the intent of... More

I had the opportunity to find a great local tour guide for my one day trip in Athens. He took a small group of tourists to the Acropolis just before opening, and we were able to see the Parthenon in near solitude, something which seems to be rarely done. Our guide (who went by the name Greekachoo) seemed very knowledgeable... More

We stayed at the Plaka Hotel which affords FANTASTIC views of the Acropolis at night. The angle is great and since the bar is on the 7th floor, you can see both Athena Nike and the Parthenon clearly. Lit up at night, it is a sight to behold. We went at 8AM to beat the crowds (Gates open at 8).... More

I went through the ancient agora and up to the Parthenon. I didn't realise that but going this way they take your Acropolis pass. I didn't get to have a look at the north/eastern slopes of the acropolis because I exited because I couldn't find a connect path to the other side. They wouldn't let me back in even though... More

Pretty impressive to see in person. You have to see it at least once in your lifetime. Just be careful if you sit, you may get up and be all white on your bottom, chalk like. Besides that amazing visit!

The site is easy to arrive and there are many places to get water before you enter the site. $20 to get in without a guide. Guides can be found at one entrance....as we walk up we could not find any...only when we exit I saw that they were sitting next to another entrance...better ask when you get in. The... More

Although very busy, it was well worth it - the views were great. It is best to go early in the morning before it gets too hot and crowded - this, combined with the museum, really made our trip to Athens special.
