I was lucky enough to be the only group member in my September 10, 2016 walking tour with Nicoletta. I booked the tour through Intrepid's Urban Adventures program, as I was meeting up with an Intreprid Small Group Tour (Athens to Santorini) that evening. Nicoletta was a fabulous guide - her knowledge of the history, culture and layout of Athens... More

Maeva was wonderful showing us her favourite places in Athens, the architecture, food and culture. We loved discovering this amazing city with her. She was a wonderful guide and we would strongly recommend this tour.

Great Tour. Nikoleta took us through a lot of little cafes and delis. We went through the local meat, fish and vegetable markets. Nikoleta was a great tour guide, had a answer for all our questions and was very welcoming. Would recommend it to anyone!!

Absolutely loved this tour! Highlight of my stay in Athens. I did the evening meze and drinks tour with Maeva. She took our small group to several fun places which only locals would know about. It was more like being taken out by a friend in the city than being on a tour. Walking from place to place gives you... More

We went on the food and market walking tour with Maeva and Nicollette this morning. It was one of the most enjoyable times on our trip. Through the meat, fish and vegetable markets of inner Athens. Coffee shops, pastry shops, spice stalls, olive stalls, smallgoods shops, flea market. Even picked up a frame to bbq sardines I had wanted to... More

What more could we ask for!! Our first night in Athens we booked this tour and were lucky enough to get Maeva as our guide. Maeva was fun friendly and outgoing, yet very knowledgable with lots of experience. The places that we were introduced to on this tour were revisited throughout our stay in Athens. We were exposed to the... More

I booked the Taste of Athens tour for myself and two small children. Being very familiar with the sister companies of Urban Adventures (Intrepid etc) I had no doubt we would have a great day out. Nikoleta was our gorgeous, bubbly guide. She was extremely patient with the two small people and they adored her. The tour was one of... More

I have used Urban Adventures in other countries, so I knew going in that this is a top-notch company who hires great guides and plans amazing tours. The evening with Maeva was wonderful! It was relaxed, but filled with great conversation, delicious food, and a wonderful introduction to various Greek wines as well as tsipouro. We visited a variety of... More

My wife and I went on the Twilight Tour of Athens with Maeva. We had a fantastic time trying out different drinks and getting a nice overview of Athens nightlife. Maeva was a wonderful guide. We got along so well that the tour felt like simply hanging out with an old friend than a simple tour. She was extremely knowledgeable... More

Staying in Exarchia

Neighborhood Profile
Exarchia
Exarchia is in many ways Athens’ best-kept secret, discovered by relatively few international visitors. Located behind the main University and Polytechnic buildings, it is unsurprisingly home to many students, intellectuals and politicos. This is reflected in the area’s vibrant street art and graffiti, which seems to cover almost every inch of wall space. Some of the best Athenian tavernas are located here, as well as its most alternative bars and underground music venues. You'll find political bookshops and quirky stores here, yet it is also a neighborhood inhabited by families and older folk. On Saturdays, punks and grandmothers alike head for Kallidromiou Street, nestled below Strefi Hill, to pick up fresh produce at the traditional laiki agora (street market).
