Neighborhood: Monastiraki
Monastiraki is a souvenir-hunting enclave with a difference. Apart from the dramatic backdrop of the Acropolis, its network of alleys and pedestrianized streets surround the remains of both the Greek and Roman agoras, adding the quaint concept that this is where the ancients also came to shop. Named after the tiny monastery church at its center, Monastiraki Square is a lively spot by day or night, with street peddlers vying for your attention to sell you nuts and sweets. Down beside the metro station, the official Flea Market is an unbroken row of souvenir shops until you come to antique-oriented Platia Avissinias, while Pandrossou Street on the other side of the square offers more tourist shopping. The pedestrianized street beside the Greek Agora is lined with cafés offering fine views.

The only museum on earth that you can purchase online tickets but you still need to queue up. I bought the tkts online which is something my family always does when visiting museum with young kids and we arrived at the museum where we were informed that online tkts still have to do the queue with all other visitors that hadn’t got the online tkt. I was told that online tkts just have a small discount. This is the first time something like this happens to us. Museum of illusions you need to become Europeans

Situated closely to the M1 station of Thiseio, in a renovated building facing the ancient agorà of Athens, the Museum of Illusions is something entirely different from the usual museum visit. You will see gadgets, mechanisms and entire rooms showing different kinds of Illusions. Definitely recommend for all ages. Especially the "chair illusion" was our favourite! The staff is really helpful, they explain you everything you need to know and they can also take pictures of you using your camera or phone for free! Moreover, there are nice souvenirs to take with you at the end of the visit. Overall, a unique experience.

After a 30 minute bus trip to get here we were refused entry because of a school trip. Asked to return in an hour. We went for coffee then i booked tickets. I would phone if you plan to go, see of you can get in or book in advance.
After we entered they let a party of 30+ in so i dont see why we couldnt go earlier.
Its only one floior with a couple rooms but they have student discount. Its fairly cheapp anyway.
A fun place for a few silly photos and to pass the time if you have enough of the historic places.

I was somehow hoping for a little more than what they had, but I don’t regret going. The exhibits were nice, but mind you it’s all physics - no magic tricks involved. Is probably very much fun and a great way to entertain the kids after dragging them through the historical sights.

A lot of fun for children and adults. Staff are very helpful and available. A ticket is good for 50 minutes, just the right amount of time to see and try everything. Nice selection of puzzle available to try before purchase.

Not so much a museum as a series of interactive illusions. Child friendly but it also means that you will have lots of children around you... being children!
Staff on hand were great and helped explain what to do and take fun pictures. Not extensive time wise and you are time limited anyway but it's just about right and we all enjoyed it.

Happened upon this gem location while strolling through the historic areas of Athens. The whole family enjoyed the amusing and interesting respite from the overwhelming cultural education on the area.
First off, the staff is exceptional! Welcoming, helpful and obviously invested, they all helped us jump right in for the full sensory experience. Helpful hints were provided as needed for the more challenging of the brain teasers. Someone was always on hand two ensure the best approaches to the exhibits.
We walked away with loads of photographic evidence of the best moments to be had as words can’t accurately describe the fun.
Discounts given for students and teachers.

The most attractive museum in Greece. Good prices if you have enough money, and kind staff. I liked the below:

1) The souvenir shop
2) The room with the mirrors, where you see yourself mirrorly, like 20 times
3) The room with automatic gravity, where you have to walk up, and see the automatical gravity trying to take you down.
4) The exhibit where on one side you see a cube, and on the other you see a pyramid
5) The exhibit in the restrooms , in which when you press the big red button, the restroom plays loud music colorfully.

Also, the museum is on two floors.

Huge que to get in on the weekend to find out that its a small boring place where the illusions are only visible when you take pictures. Waste of time and money. It got popular only because a local celebrity is co-owner.

The museum was 1 of the highlights of the hop on hop off bus trip. Fun was had by all, young and not so young. The brain teasers were tricky but enjoyable.
