After perhaps a dozen trips to Athens, we realised there was quite a large area of the ancient city we hadn't seen. A short walk from Monastirakis station, Keramikos covers an extensive area within and outside the old city wall on the road to Pireus....More

Keramikos is one of the more underrated sites around central Athens. A little further off from the Acropolis but worth visiting. They have beautiful ruins and grounds. And a lovely small museum. It’s included in the combo Acropolis ticket.

Probably the quietest of the 7 sites on the combined Acropolis ticket. There is a small museum and you are free to walk around. There isn't too much left but good for a 39 minute wander.

Psirri / Gazi
Side-by-side neighborhoods Psirri and Gazi provide
some of the city’s prime nightlife. The almost
claustrophobic streets of Psirri feature an
interesting blend of original small businesses with
the restaurants, cafés and bars that have recently
sprouted up. The central artery of Agion Anargiron
Street has lively places to eat or drink. Further
west, you can visit the peaceful ancient cemetery of
