I had such an amazing time learning how to prepare some of the most famous Greek dishes. Sonia was our trusted teacher and she was absolutely sweet and very knowledgeable. My favourite part was going to the central food market where Sonia showed us around the different areas and we purchased all the ingredients we were going to use to prepare the food.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone, who is a fan of Greek food and loves exploring local spots!

Thank you Sonia!!

There were 8 people in the class and the classroom easily accommodated all of us. Our instructor, Vasia, has a dry wit that kept us laughing throughout the class. Rather than demonstrating how to cook for the dishes, she had a cutting board and knife for each of us and we all made each dish under her expert guidance, then enjoyed the results of our labor with a delicious meal.

We had the best time taking this cooking class with Vassia - such a great experience with memories to last a lifetime. And the food was delicious, easy to make. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Athens.

Had a fab cookery lesson, great food and menu. Loved having a walk around the market first and also enjoying a glass of wine or two. With Covid there was just the 3 of us with our chef and it was a perfect afternoon and experience. We left after eating some of the best food we had in Greece!

I had a great time at The Greek Kitchen during my cooking class. Vasia was an excellent teacher and the food turned out amazing. Loved getting the hands on experience and learning some new tricks for my cooking. So happy to have the recipes to try again when I’m home.

I expected to learn how to prepare Greek cuisine. I have been disappointed with the journey. Clearly it is good to have the class located close by to the local market which is wonderful and an interesting experience to visiting. Unfortunately the guide who is also the chef didn’t give us to visit it. She was always ahead of us clearly in a rush mode to go back to the office to start the class. When arrived at the class location. We had just a little cheap knife to do all the cooking. The entrance recipe was interesting to learn. The Dolomes with rice ognon dill in a grape leave. The main dish was a basic eggplant with tomato sauce. And the desert a recipe for kids with crackers chocolat and conditioned milk. Not really great. The good part was we had to do it ourself. It was not a show. By a chef. Last when it came to test our cooking we wee proposed beer coke and wine. I chose wine. I have never seen that. The chef came to me with light red liquid in a two liters plastic bottle of fruit juice. Really bad. Bottom line. It is not very expensive for Half day entertainment. With food included but it is not a great experience. By far. It is pity.

What a shame you didn't have a great time! I guess you should have taken the bigger knife when it was offered to you!

Vasia was amazing! I went solo and our class was great. The food was amazing! The trip to market was excellent. I am going to return to the market for some spices! I highly recommend doing this while in Athens!

My wife and I joined the 3pm session one day and it was great fun! Our leader and teacher was a lovely and knowledgeable young lady called Antonia. She led us around the local markets whether there was meat, fish and vegetables. You can sample things like olives etc from the stands. We then went back to the kitchens and got to know the other people - we were 6 people in total. Great conversation while Antonia took us all through preparing starters, main course and desert. It was a lovely meal! Especially the desert! Lovely. Would highly recommend this experience

The best part of the experience was a market tour I wish we could try a few things. The cooking class was not what we expected. The class would be good for a kid or someone who has never made a meal in his or her life. If I spend 3.5 hours I would like to learn something.

Hello Leo I'm really sorry that you didn't have a great time with us for your cooking class. We have seen hundreds of people come through our doors, these are people who don't normally cook. Our class was designed for these people to come, have some fun and create a meal that they can enjoy while learning something about Greek food and life. This is something that we are very clear about when setting expectations in all of the media that we advertise on. This is also reflected in our price. We can keep the classes affordable and fun by offering this experience. The photos and reviews on our Trip Advisor, Facebook and Instagram are all very clear about the simple style we work with so I am sorry that when you were looking for a class you thought that you would be creating some more complicated cuisine and not what we advertise. It's a shame you didn't feel that you learned anything, if you ever come back to Athens please get in touch so that we can put you in touch with a professional cooking school that would perhaps be more appropriate to your high skill level, as they do exist in the city although for more than twice the price of ours. Enjoy the rest of your time in Greece and may everything you do be a highlight!

My 12-year-old grandson and I took the Central Market tour and 3.5 hour cooking lesson with Vasia today. Although we'd walked by the market previously, spending some time there with Vasia was much more fun. She explained the history of the market and many of the food items. After making some purchases (she provided the items for our lesson but we bought some fruit and olives for later), we went back to the Greek Kitchen for our lesson.

As we were the only two there, we had a private lesson. The teaching room was spotless, well-equipped, and bright. We each had our own utensils, tools, cutting board, etc. Vasia explained the history of the dishes we'd prepare and then talked through the steps. She coached me and my grandson with "chef" skills. We made dolmades, cheese pies, tzatziki, and a dessert. She timed everything so that when we finished preparing the last dish, everything was ready. Then, we enjoyed our creations on the lovely terrace; she added a salad and wine (for me) so it was a complete meal. In fact, we brought containers of yummy leftovers back to our hotel.

Can't recommend this class, and especially Vasia, highly enough!

Just one note--the Greek Kitchen is located on the 2nd floor (3rd floor to Americans) above other shops. The address given is correct, so don't worry if you don't see it when you arrive. There is an entrance from the street that leads you to a staircase and the Greek Kitchen.
