If you have any interest in traditional folk dancing, this evening is well worth the time and effort. The Dora Strata organisation, a non profit committed to collecting Greek folk dances and costumes as well as giving lessons, featured numerous varieties of folk dances which have been garnered from a stunning variety of locations: not only mainland Greece and the... The theater is at the top of the hill. Cost is 15 EURO per person. It was a great opportunity to see traditional Greek dancing. Also a great chance to see traditional Greek costumes. I think you would enjoy this if you were interested in dance or Greek culture/fashion.

This is a great cultural experience. The program is narrated in Greek, English and French. It is only 15€ per person as well. If you have never seen Greek dance before, you should visit while in Athens. It is best to hire a taxi to get to the theatre, as the taxi can drop you off right by the entrance.... More

Being a fashion designer myself, I have to say that I was mesmerised by these simply spectacular costumes. Their performances take place 5 times a week from the start of June until the end of September. There are 10 shows (covered in 2 weeks) that get repeated every fortnight. The shows cover costumes and corresponding dances from every region of... More

In general this was a fantastic traditional performance that we experienced - quality live music, costumes, dance, singing - the whole package! Make sure you check the weather before attending, as you don't want to be spoiled by rain. There wasn't that much of a big crowd unfortunately (they deserve more!) and fortunately, as it meant we could easily grab... More

Theater located on Philopappou Hill opposite the Acropolis. Its a unique experience to watch in this theater a traditional dance festival. Some details for the theater - Daily performances in the its 800-seat garden theatre - A company of 75 dancers, musicians and folk singers - A collection of over 2,000 village-made costumes, with jewels and other works of folk... My daughter and I attended a performance of Greek dances in 2012. I highly recommended it to my friend. We saw the performance on 3 June 2015. This group is subsidized by the Ministry of Culture and National Tourism Organization of the Municipality of Athens. They are highly skilled dancers, musicians and singers performing in authentic costume of the various... More

I visited the "Dora Stratou" Theater in Philopappou Hill in Athens last week and I have really enjoyed the performance. In 40 minutes all the music and dance culture of modern Greece passed in front of my eyes. The dances and costumes were wonderful. I highly recommend the show for everyone that would like to learn and at the same... More

Well worth a visit, we have been three times now. The programme is always varied and entertaining. Presenting local dances from all the regions of Greece in an open air amphitheatre that just reeks atmosphere. It starts quite late in the evening so you have time for dinner first.

This was a wonderful display of dancers in real authentic costumes from different areas and regions in Greece. The great thing about this show is that it is affordable, (15 euros a person ). My husband and I were going to go to a restaurant that advertised a Greek evening of food and dance, but instead we went to a... More
