Just have a stroll inside the Ancient Agora and if the weather is sunny, this can be the perfect choice. We 've visited the Agora with kids a couple of times and because it's an outdoor place is idealic for kids, you can also visit the Stoa of Attalos (the first mall in history), with interesting ancient findings even for... Situated inside the Roman Agora (Roman marketplace of Athens), the Temple of Hephaestus is the best preserved monument left in the ancient Agora. It was actually commenced two years before the Parthenon and is well preserved because it was in use as a church into the 1800s. It has an elevated aspect within the agora site. You can't get inside... More

For best value, get a combo ticket of the Acropolis with museums. Start your morning at the Acropolis for the best views of the Temple Hephaestus (Thiseio). Then head down the hill to the Greek Agora. The ancient/classical Agora, home to Athens’s marketplace, political and social center, athletic contests, education and theater. It was the center of democracy. Socrates, Plato... More

As the title reads.... It is a walk to get there in the Agora reservation that was at one time the center of Athens. Before going to visit the Temple, watch the video in the building that the Rockerfellers rebuilt. It explains the Agora in toto. The temple is lovely from the outside but you cannot see the interior. I... More

Even the Parthenon has to its perfection mainly due to its integrity... Located into the Agorà area, You can also reach it getting off the metro at Thissio station.

The temple is locate atop a hill. It is beautiful but also a bit seedy. For some reason it has a powerful and abiding sense to it. Well worth the half hour walk to get to the Ancient Agora, and it's one of several things to see there.

This temple is nicer than others to see as it is more complete, and as such, has a bit more of a "human" scale.

We didn't initially plan on seeing the Temple of Hephaestus however we were walking by and decided to check it out. I'm so happy we did! This temple is beautiful! There were no crowds at the time we visited and we were able to take our time and leisurely stroll through the grounds! Highly recommend!

This is a great example of a doric Greek Temple. The reason it is so well preserved is due to it being converted to a church later on. When you climb up the small hill and stand at its entrance, take a moment to look east over the Agora and imagine people bustling to and from. The agora was not... More
