Take a tuk tuk or moto unless you are very fit & have built in lights
Jan 2019 • Friends
First, the observation space on Grandfather Mountain is wonderful. During the day you can watch the cloud shadows pass over town & at sunset you get all of the beautiful colors. Definitely worth a trip up!

Second, this "Real Nomad" joker is foolish to advise you to avoid tuk tuk/motos. If you are not in good physical condition, the road is quite challenging. Further, as it is quite steep (it is a mountain, after all), it can be problematic to be walking down it after sunset in the dark when fast moving vehicles will have trouble seeing you & may well run you over. During the day, the heat can be overwhelming as there is no shade along the way so if you do decide to walk it, take water & wear a hat. Be sure to slap on sunscreen, too.

Do take the time to visit. Don't be foolish with your safety. The $3-4 ride is much cheaper than a hospital visit.

An excellent place to take a stroll to in the late afternoon and enjoy the sunset over Senmonorom. Don't bother will all the nonsense about needing a tuk-tuk. Only takes about half an hour from the center of town. Pick up a couple of cold beers along the way and toast the end of the day in style

Only for Sunset
Dec 2017 • Couples
Tuk tuk can take you all the way up to the mountain for $3 i think from our lodge (Nature Lodge). Not much seating as people will tend to sit around to wait for the sunset and every now and then a big group will come take picture and leave.

We were there at about 4pm to wait for the sunset. Then we got thirsty no stalls selling drinks only fruits and some praying stuff. We walked down the hill to the nearest shop bought can drinks and walk back up the hill. There is a small shortcut path beside the small structure but its really small and you will get touched by branches and leaves, if you dont mind then go ahead. Or just get some drinks before you head up.

Sunset wasn't impressive, i think because it lack clouds if you know what i mean. Also i noticed one of the stall person took the bin and throw it down the hill, the rubbish inside were flying down the hill like snow. Looks like the bin is just for show, must be too lazy carrying the bin down and dispose of it properly :/

Wonderful views of both Sen Monorom and surrounding mountains
May 2016 • Solo
There are two mountains that make up Phnom DoKramom, one called Grandfather mountain and the other, Grandmother mountain. Both have small shrines with statues in them that many local people leave offerings at.

Grandfather mountain has a large wooden observatory deck that allows great views of Sen Monorom. There are many small statues of elephants and horses and some places to sit for a picnic. They also have a place to buy some drinks on this mountain as well as a toilet.

Grandmother mountain has only a small shrine. In both shrines the older women there will light incense and/or tie red bracelets on you for a small donation. The views from the smaller mountain are fantastic - birds can be seen flying around in the afternoon. Both mountains are a far walk from town - so I recommend hiring a moto to bring you to see them.

This is a great place to visit in the late afternoon with the sunset and clouds rolling in during the rainy season. Very peaceful there!

With the view of Senmonorom as the background, as the sun slowly slides into the rolling hills. Just breathtaking! The best spot for both sunrise and sunset! It is a MUST try experience for all visitors!

This is a good place to visit in the late afternoon when the sun is setting over town. Best to hire a motorbike to ride to the top of the hill
