- TravelingSoccerLoonSaint Paul, Minnesota5,872 contributionsOne of the Best Beaches on AntiguaValley Church Beach is one of the nicest beaches on Antigua. I've had a chance to go there on a couple occasions. White powdery sand, and warm, turquoise water. Jet ski rental. Nice beach bar. Not much snorkeling here. All of the beaches on the west coast of the island are similarly excellent including Ffryes Beach and Darkwood Beach.Visited January 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 1, 2023
- cantex5088 contributionsNo ShowersWe caught a taxi to the beach from the cruise pier for 10 dollars/ person each way. It was a 25 min trip. The beach had lots of chairs and umbrellas for rent. 10 dollars umbrella and 5 dollars chair. We picked the beach due to it having bathroom facilities and showers. We were disappointed that the 1 and only shower did not work and it looks like it hasn’t worked for a long time. The beach was beautiful and we did have a fabulous time there.Visited November 2023Traveled with friendsWritten November 4, 2023
- kelly0120St. Augustine, Florida114 contributionsBeautiful turquoise watersFor the last 20+ years, I have had a favorite beach in Costa rica UNTIL I went to Valley Church in Antigua! The water was calm, the most beautiful turquoise water you ever saw. Must see!Visited May 2023Traveled with familyWritten February 20, 2024
- BethWhite Lake, Michigan7 contributionsGorgeous turquoise water!Beautiful beach, turquoise waters and white sand! We took a taxi from our cruise port. $10 per person each way with 2 other couples. Just let your driver know what time to come back and pick you up, we were there about 3 hours but I could have stayed longer! Tia was our driver and she was excellent, giving some commentary both on the way there and back.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 6, 2024
- Sheriez BSt. John's, Antigua40 contributionsA good day at seaThe beach was so inviting. The water was warm and really nice. The views were stunning and I had a blast with my family. The slope was narrow and gentle, so you didn’t feel like you were falling in when you are stepping in. It wasn’t brought it was calm and really enjoyableVisited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 24, 2024

My hotel provided a shuttle to Valley Church beach. Chairs are free but umbrellas are $10 a day. No shade without the umbrella. A few vendors offering water sports, kayaks, sups, catamarans, jetski, snorkel trips etc. Not too windy. Didn't look like anything to snorkel for directly at the beach. Nest restaurant at the beach had a great curry conch roti.

Fantastic beach for young kids with bar and food. We spent the day here after getting off our cruise ship and got a local taxi, took 20 mins and was $10 pp as we wanted a private one. He also came back to pick us up.
Beach is perfect and sea was calm and very relaxing, it was $10 per umbrella and $5 per bed. Some beds have had there day so choose carefully.
The restaurant was great but service was very slow . Changing room and toilets were very clean and well kept.
The only thing that annoyed us was the people renting jet skis who shout up and down the beach and sped alone very close to the shore as they come into pick up people so you need to watch the kids carefully. They really should have one area for pickup and drop off

From cruise port we walked straight fown the shopping area until we saw the yellow taxi sign. Our taxi was $50 for two couples or $10 each in a larger shuttle. The ride to the beach is very bumby and not ideal. Around 25 minutes. The beach is lovely. FITZROY got us four chairs two umbrella for $50. We went to the left and the chairs were excellent. Solid blue chairs we were happy. The beach is soft sand on one side and pebbles on the other side. Warning there is a large drop off about twenty feet out in the water. Saw many people surprised by the drop. Getting out was a challenge.
We enjoyed the entire experience. There are activities, bathrooms restaurant and basically all u could want. We will be back one day.
Thanks to all the previous reviews that helped us choose this beach over others.

This was our last stop on an excursion from a cruise ship and it was excellent! The beach has a soft granular sand and the water color is just gorgeous. There is a bit of a drop off into the water that caused difficulty for a lot of people. There is a restaurant/bar and restrooms. Beers run around $5 and coconut shrimp is around $20. You'll just want to sit back and soak in the relaxing views.

Really good beach, all inclusive for sugar ridge guests with the exception of umbrellas which are 10usd per umbrella. Beach is quite long and offers lots of space. If the cruise ships are not in town you get lots of space. Very quiet. You can rent jetskis and other stuff from locals. We had great time

While we were staying at The COCOCS, we really enjoyed walking this beach. During the day there was too many cruise people and it was a little crowded. They set up their towels in front of us which was not appreciated. The water was beyond turquoise and the sand was a bit rough with all the broken shells but still walkable. There’s a really cool luxury camping resort on the beach as well, it’s looks fun!

Stunning views from the beach, as much praise as it’s getting. Ship arranged excursion no beds left on arrival. Told not to swim in the sea only paddle close to shore by Water Sports Rental guys. They claim to be lifeguards but they are not, no lifeguards on the beach. Shame as beautiful. If you go get there early to ensure beds, but it ends up crammed

Stayed at cocos hotel about a year ago and it was excellent and stayed on this beach the whole time(they have another beach called jolly beach on the other side of the resort. The valley church beach was perfect. Quiet, clean, with gorgeous views. We will definitely be back!

Beach is fantastic! I don’t write reviews, but AVOID THE JET SKIIS! They will scam you! They waved us in after only half our time was up, we came in in good faith thinking something was wrong, and they said we were being “reckless”. Beware! On the other hand, beach is beautiful and not crowded. Restrooms are clean, and Bar and restaurant are fabulous. Highly recommend jerk chicken and coconut shrimp!

How is the taxi service from the cruise port. Are there cabs to get back. That is my main concern
Written June 8, 2023
It is not hard to get a cab, but we had to wait for enough people who wanted to go to the same place. Cab driver arranged for a pick up time and was there on time to take us back.

Wanting to renew our wedding vows on the beach at church beach. Anybody know where I could find a minister of the peace that would come to the beach at a arranged time. For a reasonable fee
Thanks for any help

Was it easy to find a taxi back to the port from the beach? How much was that taxi ride?
TIA!

We took the bus. It was $1.50 each way and the bus station was about a 10 minute walk through town to the port. It's an easy walk. Taxi, if there's just a couple of you is about $32+ but if you share with other beach goers the cost is cut because the price is per ride not per person. Taxis come to the club at the beach. For the bus you walk to the beach entrance, wait and flag a bus down as it comes down the hill. They come every 10-15 minutes.

Saludos.

Como puedo llegar desde el puerto de cruceros a la playa valley church beach?.Gracias por tu respuesta.
Written November 19, 2018
Lo más rápido es un taxi. También puedes rentar un vehículo pero el camino no es directo y pudes perderte.
Saludos.

in Antigua in Nov. any idea taxi fare please
Written October 12, 2018
US $11.00 each way tip included. Find more couples and split it. Tell them to return at a certain time and don't pay until they return. Stray off the beaten path(outside man gate) for cabs. Tell them a price and STICK to your agreement. Enjoy!!
