This is not the Musee de Verre in Conches.

It appears that a number of people are confusing this with the glass museum in Conches.
This museum is in the centre of town, near the tourist information in a beautiful old timbered building.
Please make sure you go to both museums when inConches as they are both really worthwhile visiting :
Musee de Verre at Route de Sainte Marguerite
Musee de Pays de Conches at Rue du Docteur Paul Guilbaud

A great little museum for glass lovers
May 2016
The Conches Glass Museum is currently having a really interesting show called "Corps à corps." In this show, there is one work of art from each artist, with the theme of the human body. This goes from the 1800s up until present. It is bilingual, French and English and there is a great book out about it with descriptions of each work of art and photos of them, as a beautiful souvenir. I think this book only costs 10 euros, so don't hesitate! It's also in French and in English.

My husband and visited on a Sunday afternoon in mid June. This is a little folk museum of considerable charm. Each Saturday during this summer, there have been bread baking sessions in the huge oven in one of the buildings. Some of this bread was available for inspection and to buy on the day we visited. In the main museum house, there was also an exhibition of local clothing and costume and history and development of both in the Eure area. On the afternoon we visited, there was a honey tasting (and honey buying) opportunity which complemented the bee and hive displays upstairs.
I particularly liked The clothing exhibition. It was fascinating and really interesting to read about dowries being based on clothes, cloth, beds and bed linen etc. (Not unlike Shakespeare's time I suppose where a bed was considered a great status symbol). The information about the lace headdresses was enthralling. There were two ladies making lace and it was nice to talk to them about the art of it. Very pretty and intricate.
We tasted honey and bought some. Once again, just our thing. After the visit ( of about an hour all told) we had a walk in the grounds/arboretum which was extremely pleasant.
On the day we visited, it was free entry but I believe there is usually an entry charge.
It was a lovely enjoyable thing to do without being too challenging and "in your face".
