Our guide Ricardo picked us up promptly in front of our hotel. We had a wonderful tour of the monasteries of Braga and the palaces of Guimaraes with a lunch stop at a family restaurant. Ricardo was able to provide us access to parts of the monasteries where access is normally limited. We were disappointed that our walking tour of Guimaraes did not happen and the tour was cut short by an hour (as described online). The van was rather crowded and sitting at the back as we were it was difficult to hear Ricardo’s commentary. On the whole, it was a worthwhile experience.

Great day wine tasting in Douro Valley. Small group is way to go especially if your guide is Samuel.

Samuel was our guide for The Douro Valley small group tour. We had a fantastic day seeing the Valley, tasting wine and lunching looking over a beautiful vineyard. Samuel was knowledgeable and fun. He treated everyone with respect and made sure to make each person comfortable. He was attentive to each of us and made sure each person could hear him. He was informative and always smiling. His fun, happy demeanor was infectious. His English was perfect. A day in the Douro Valley involves quite a bit of driving ( our first stop was about 1 1/4 hr from Porto city center) so it’s important for your guide to be a safe and expert driver on the highway and on windy roads. Samuel was both. He had to have James Bond driving skills just to park the van a few times! If you’re going to the Douro Valley and taking a boat ride a small group is the way to go. No waiting on long lines to board a big, crowded boat. We had a small boat which was perfect. I highly recommend Samuel for a perfect day and would choose him as a guide if I’m lucky enough to come back to Porto!

It sounds like you had an absolutely fantastic day in the Douro Valley with Samuel as your guide! His combination of knowledge, fun, and respect for each person in the group contributed to a memorable experience. I'm glad to hear that his driving skills, even with some James Bond-like maneuvers, added to the overall sense of safety and expertise.
The small group setting and the choice of a smaller boat for the ride provided a more intimate and enjoyable experience. It's wonderful that Samuel's fun and happy demeanor made the day even more infectious. Ricardo, our tour guide, made every effort for us to have a very special day so that we would learn and feel and experience Braga and Guimaraes in a unique way. We visited all the historical places of the tour with thorough explanation in very good English. And the lunch that we had at the Restaurante Castelo in Guimaraes was one of the best we experienced in Portugal. It was so authentic and so tasty and the young wine was very good. It was a very good day! Thank you, Ricardo!

Ricardo picked us up, on time, and we were off on an amazing tour of Braga and Guimaraes. He provided water and shared history, local information and numerous suggestions.
We had such a wonderful time and the tree our far exceeded expectations. Ricardo is very knowledgeable and he also provided support with our efforts to speak Portuguese during our tour. This was way above and beyond the scope of his responsibilities, but he appreciated our enthusiasm to learn Portuguese and he was very supportive.
We saw amazing historic sights in Braga and Guimaraes and with Ricardo sharing stories / history, we had a complete day.
We also shared a flavorful lunch in Guimaraes at an authentic Portuguese restaurante. The food and wine were so good and we left the restaurante completely satisfied.
This was a memorable day and a wonderful experience. We have so many wonderful memories that we can’t wait for our next opportunity to book another tour with Ricardo.

This tour of the Douro Valley was excellent. The activities arranged were well done, and kept moving along at a pace that was not rushed. Samuel was an engaging guide throughout the day. Love that they pick up/drop off at your hotel.

Marium? was an excellent guide- very friendly. Stopped at great wineries, got from one place to the next quickly, in a comfortable van with just 5 other people. Enjoyed the company and all the tasty treats (wine, port, cheese, honey, olive oil, and of course, more wine).

Sergio was a fantastic guide. He gave lots of interesting history and info and drove us very safely throughout the winding Douro Valley Roads. Sergio introduced us at all the wineries and the restaurant and ensured we were comfortable. We felt well cared for. We highly recommend!!

We took the Douro Valley tour and Samuel Pereira was our guide. He is an excellent driver and tour guide. We appreciated his patience and guidance. He was very well versed in the history of the Douro and it made it most enjoyable learning all that he shared.
He made sure we were well taken care of. I would definitely recommend this tour and Samuel Pereira

Samuel was an incredible tour guide! We loved spending our day with him and made new friendships with the other couples in the van. The great thing about this tour is that it’s a small group so you can really customize the experience and make it special as a more initiate experience. Samuel was knowledgeable and showed us an amazing day!

We had a wonderful day with Samuel as our guide. The sites were beautiful even on a rainy day. The wine, port, honey and olive oil were delicious. Samuel was knowledgeable, professional and an amazing guide.
