Great big building at the top end of Praca Liberdade. You will definitely see it on our tours about town as it is big and dominates the area. Very tall as well. On a very important squre.

Designed by local architect Correia da Silva the Câmara Municipal (City hall) is located at the top of the Avenida dos Aliados, or the Avenue of the Allies, which is a wide avenue in central Porto, home to a lot of interesting building facades.
Originally started in 1920, but not completed until 1957 it consists of six floors and has a bell tower with an imposing clock some 70 meters high.
We did not go inside as we found it when strolling the local area and I am not sure if it is open to the public.
This is a nice section of Porto to walk and explore and there are plenty of other attractions close by such as the Igreja da SantÃssima Trindade and the pedestrianised Rua de Santa Catarina shopping street is a few minutes walk away.

I went here several times to take a picture. In the Christmas season, the building looks more beautiful.

Nice place for a walk. The square looks really big after the narrow streets of old town. Many small cafes and bars. Not so many tourists!

This building is in one of the best areas of Porto. Architecture is really amazing and the building is well preserved.

Camara Municipal do Porto, the city hall, is located in the northern part of Avenida dos Aliados. The current town hall building was built in the years 1920-1957. It was designed by the architect Correia da Silva. It has over 70-meter tower with a clock. The building was made of granite, and its interior is decorated with a marble finish. Inspired by architecture in the great palaces of northern France and Flanders. Worth a visit is the beautiful and rich Lost Steps Hall, all in black marble. It is very beautiful building.

Grand & imposing Gothic structure at the top of the big City square. The Palace, Intercontinental is at the bottom end.
Would be good to go in & see what the view from the top is like.

Every city has its hall and Porto is no exception. This is a handsome looking building in a small square near the city centre which predictably has loads of people like me taking pictures. I am not sure whether you can visit. but there may not be much to see inside anyway as it is of course a functional Government building.

The town hall towers over the central square of Porto, Placa Liberdade. Its central tower is 70m high and there is a very popular Porto sign outside that is always swarmed with tourists snapping away.
I dont know if you can visit the inside, I didnt, but the building is one of the most impressive in the city and is well worth a stop.

Although you cant visit the city hall it has an imposing location looking at historic Porto. Beautiful architecture like most of the buildings around the square. Of note lots of police on every block so it feels safe.
