There is lots to see & do here. Plenty of bars & restaurants and if wandering along the riverside, there is plenty of entertainment in the way of busking, dancing, a hoop artist etc. You can also cross the footbridge where you can go up/down the cable cars or tour one of the many port houses

There is lots to see and experience in this beautiful waterfront area including of course the famous bridge. Many of the city's finest restaurants are in this area, although they are not necessarily the cheapest and of course lots of charming historic buildings. A great place for a meander, to soak up the atmosphere and for people watching.

Located between Cais da Ribeira and Cais da Estiva this narrow square on the Douro River is the center of downtown Porto. On the opposite side of the river it narrows becoming R. de São João which rises towards the city even if, given the numerous tables of the bars that occupy it, the part of the square on which you can walk nowher is wider than R. de São João. It is an obligatory point for those visiting Porto and at the same time a lively and pleasant area in which to stroll, wait for your cruise or stop for a drink.

Ribeira Square is one of the oldest squares in the city. It is included in the historical centre of the city on the bank of the Douro River. Very nice place for lunch, dinner or drink. Since mediaeval times it is very busy area, it was the site of many shops that sold fish, bread, meat and other goods. Nowadays the Ribeira Square is a favourite spot for tourists. Make sure that Ribeira Square is on your list of places to visit. It is the place you should definitely come to.

One of the best spots in Porto. Right by the Douro river at the end of old town with its winding and colorful streets.
Plenty of restaurants, have your glass of Porto and watch the street performers, locals and tourists and great views of the iconic Dom Luis bridge.

It was shoulder to shoulder people the day we were there with the restaurants and cafes packed, a crowd surrounding the musicians playing riverside and a mime pandering. It is a central point when plying the Ribeira with street vendors, shops and hawkers trying to get you to shop, dine or drink in their establishments. Lively to say the least!!!

If purchasing a boat trip make sure you get in the correct line, if you make a mistake - no problem you can change the ticket for the correct boat. Get in line early if you want to sit outside. Check out places to eat/drink around the square. Wear your fitbit so you can count your steps

The square is quite small and It’s packed with tourists, restaurants, cafes and bars. The view from the square over the river is awesome, as well as the chill atmosphere. The Ribeira square is also right on the Cais da Ribeira riverfront. Quite touristic and you’ll pay more for everything in this area but definitely worth a visit.

Yes it’s touristy and not the quietest spot to enjoy a Porto tonic and you are not going to find the best restaurants in Porto in this square. But for those who like the company of others I am sure you will be happy in this square.
Personally we preferred somewhere more relaxing and you don’t have to move far along Cais da Ribera in either direction away from the square to find a bar which enjoys the full afternoon sun with a more relaxing ambiance.

Loads of places to eat and drink letting the day pass you by. The view across the river makes the square worth visiting. Lots of people traffic due to the cruise boats parking up on the quay. A great spot to people watch.
