Beautiful beach, not crowded at all...if you get tired of sunbathing, there's a great path/boardwalk connecting the various beaches on this stretch of the coastline

We were in Porto for a city break and the weather drew us to the coast. What a surprise! With Atlantic breakers and rock strewn sand, there was also a lovely cafe and a wonderful boardwalk. We walked through the marina and along the side of a nature reserve - just fabulous.

There is a 15 km of sandy beach area along the Atlantic Ocean. We were on "Canide Norte" beach. It was clean, free and absolutely not crowded. We spent 3 afternoons on this beach, on the first there was a red flag sign - so it was prohibited to walk into the ocean - and it was impossible too because of the huge waves... We loved this beach, and I hope we can return to it. From Porto City the best way to reach the beaches is to rent a scooter (TT-3ways rental). There is also a beach bar called "Bar da Sereia" with a lovely crew and a cold drinks. Absolutely recommended!

This place is very close to Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. It's the perfect start for a walk along the ocean or towards the center of Porto.

We drove just out of Porto on the Gaia side and found several lovely beaches.
Lots of nice places to snack or eat or just have a drink.
When we were there in mid September it was wonderfully quiet and we had some beaches to ourselves
Relaxed vibe with clean sand and lively surf

The sea can be a bit fresh, but the sand is clean and there are some rocks as well. Lovely promenade where you can walk, cycle or run about 15 km along the coast from the bridge in the centre of Porto down to Espinho. Lots of cafes and restaurants to break up the journey.

We went because there's a direct bus from Porto city center to here. It's not necessarily the best beach, but the view of the ocean is stunning, worth a trip!
