We had a couple of tastings here. The selection of Port Wines included in the tasting was exceptional, and the owner was very knowledgeable, pointing out good value ports and truly high quality ones. The Aged Tawny's were exceptional. We ended up buying a few bottles that we will keep for a special occasions, they were very delicious.

Owner speaks fluent French, Portuguese, and started speaking in English, so caters to pretty much all tourists.

Nice bar to come and try Port wine. The waiter/owner is very friendly and loves to talk about Port. We would recommend to stop by.

We did some initial port wine tasting here after dinner on our first night in Porto. Service was slow but they had some nice ports to try and it is a cute store.

I visited with my sister and our two friends. We were overwhlemed by the exceptional service by well-informed staff. The variety of high quality ports here is so amazing that we went back for second tasting and we were only visiting for 3 days. Food available to accompany the port tasting was also delicious. An absolutely must for anyone visiting Porto.

Lets face it.. light food.. port tasting.. dark decor.. intimate tables.. and if itnis bad weather.. this is a perfect location. Cheese selection paird with the port. Shop only does the unique and small independent producers so you are sure to grey a very nice set of recommendations. Staff are multilingual.. perfectly multilingual.
Delivery of port explanations in mulitple languages with sufficient sophistication and nuance in vocabulary to credibly descible products.

The two French owners had a lot of knowledge and a friendly and funny attitude. The ambiance in the bar was cozy and the port was good. I would recommend this place!

Rick Steves recommended this in his book, so we went. Huge mistake. Rick Steves was dead wrong about this place - avoid at all costs.

Portions of port & cheese were the smallest amount we encountered in all of Portugal.

Prices very high & not worth it. Tawny port served was not high quality & cheese was disappointing.

We went about 4pm & there was only two tables seated in the front. They put us in the back & we waited & waited. The tables are close together. They waited until they could seat people next to us so they would not have to repeat the port story twice. Bad service.

Run-away & go to the wine lodges across the river for wine tasting with better service & better port.

Would not return & would not recommend.

Stopped in this place quite by accident and boy are we glad that we did. Lucio, our server, was most knowledgeable and patience as he explained the nuances of Tawny, which I had under appreciated up until that night. Staff was friendly and accommodating and eager to share their knowledge of lesser known Bodegas and brands. If you seek to expand your knowledge, palate and appreciation of all that is port do yourself a favor and go here.

We came to Porto specifically to drink port and Portologia did not disappoint! We had such a good time on our first visit that 2 days later we were back, after having tried other port places (including some of the cellars over the river) that did not do it for us.

No it isn’t the cheapest, but the ports are exquisite, even at the very basic tasting level. They are also not ones you would normally come across which means you get to try a wide selection and not just from one brand. The explanations given were brilliant and once we worked out what we really enjoyed we came back for a more thorough tasting, finally leaving having purchased several bottles (which they shipped to the UK for a very reasonable fee). Whether you already love port or are new to it I would thoroughly recommend this place.

We walked into Portologia around noon when there were only 2 other people in there which was good because there was only one staff member at that time. Explanations were good and small producers were featured but serving sizes (tastings and cheese) were smaller than other places. We tasted 6 ports each for €30 per person. All the ports we tasted were delicious and the cheese platter was good.
