My advice is to take the train from Campanha at 07.14 am to get to Pinhao at 9.36. But careful as the only trains back from Pinhao to Porto are at 14.20 and 18.20 respectively !! Also, at Pinhao, you have to wait at the...More

Visited here in August with my boyfriend. Nice to see but is small inside so only spent 5 minutes there.

The valley is lined with a mosaic of the most beautiful vinyards along the hills and breath taking views. We toured the Sandeman Port Winery and were not disappointed, the tour was excellent, and the views from it's location are superb. Well worth the trip.

There are plenty of interesting thing to see and try along the river. A trip to the vineyards is a must, the views are spectacular. In the city, visit the vineries.

Went with Viking (who were great) but it is the scenery and locations unspoilt by tourists at the moment that did it for me, notwithstanding Loads of quintas, each with something different to taste.

This river has amazing potential, full of cities and places with history since Spain until Porto! I definitely recommend everyone that has the opportunity to visit the places that were developed through this river!

We joined friends for an evening cruise. The boat passed under most of the bridges which provided a unique view of the city. The cruise wasn’t long enough. I wouldn’t recommend it as a must-do while in Porto.

We drove up the valley and stayed in a winery for one night. The scenery was spectacular. Definitely worth two or three days.

The river cruise was just a beautiful experience for a couple. Unexpected how much we enjoyed it and a real bonus to our vacation. A real highlight!

There are various ways to take a trip up (or is it down) the Douro river. We tried a three hour trip up and back. Very interesting and a nice break on a very hot August day. Wear sun screen. You can also take lunch...More

It will be surely cold weather and the scenery wil not be as green as in summer. However, if you find the same kind of joyful Portuguese people we met, it can be a good experience. Our boat had glass windows in the dining... More

There's a railway lone that follows the Douro from Porto for a long way. If we go back that's what we will do, it looks stunning. Stay in Pinhao and move out form there. What a lovely holiday to plan

Hi, we do not have any experience with cruises on the douro, the best you can do is to see different company´s. Have a nice vacation, Hans & Lucy.
