My boyfriend and I did the Downtown Porto bike tour with a guide and it was great. It's an excellent way to see a lot more of the city than you would ever find on foot on a short weekend trip, and it's a great way to get your bearings and learn about the city early on. The bikes were in great condition and our tour guide was really lovely. We didn't use e-bikes, so if you do the same be prepared for the hills! A great workout :D
The prices were very good, I felt like we got a bargain. I highly recommend this company to anyone and I would definitely use them for their other tours, or for just hiring a bike for the day.

We did a week long radial bike tour organized by Sportours in and around Porto, staying at the Oporto Trendy Apartments.
Filipe was an excellent tour host (it was self-guided). Filipe was just a text message away and responded very quickly when contacted. We ran into a technical problem at a gondola that was supposed to be part of the tour route (they were not taking bikes up that day) and when I contacted Filipe he very quickly responded with an alternative GPS route which was just as scenic, possibly more so! Filipe at Sportours checked in with us regularly and provided daily advice on which tours were good to take on the weekends, during the week, or weather dependent.
The self-guide materials (book, maps, GPS routes) were excellent and precise. We saw so much of Porto and the area that we would otherwise not have seen. Highly recommend Sportours and Filipe.

I needed a road bike a short notice with my own bike and various equipment being stuck in customs. Filipe was my saviour! As he said, in Portugal there is always a solution, and he worked it all out for me, including the bike being transported from the Algarve back to Porto. A cycling holiday nearly ruined was saved by Filipe and Sportours. He even provided me with bidons and helped source further equipment for me.
My wife and I also hired city bikes for a day, and I have used Sportours one other time previously.
I am extremely grateful to Filipe / Sportours and highly recommend.

This is the second time we have used Sportours and I cannot speak highly enough of Felipe and the care he takes. We arrived in Porto on a spur of the moment cycling trip and without arranging any bike rental. Contacted Felipe and he changed his own plans to meet us at 8:30am the following morning, so that we could get some bikes. He introduced us to some new routes that have opened since we were last here and made sure we had everything we needed for our unplanned adventure. Nothing is too much trouble and he handles everything with a smile and a great sense of humour. He even arranged to pick our bikes up from the hotel on Sunday so that we could use every moment of the weekend. We have hired bikes in many places on our travels and Sportours (and Felipe) is without doubt the best experience we have ever had. Our thanks again. We will be back!

We had such a wonderful experience! The owner deferred his lunch break in order to rent us bikes, and gave us recommendations on where to ride. The bikes we rented were in great condition, the price was reasonable, and the owner was just so helpful. We had a fantastic ride, going where he'd said to (both route-wise and lunch-wise) and I will make a point to come back if I make it back to Porto!

Filipe was a wonderful introduction to Porto. We rented bikes from him for 3 days and rode down the coast and back. He helped us with great suggestions for our ride and made sure the bikes we rented were all set for us. We feel we really made a connection to Portugal through Filipe and look forward to working with him again.

Luckily I selected Sportours for our biking adventures in Porto. After an exchange of emails between myself and Filipe the owner, I was so impressed with his level of commitment in ensuring he created the very best 2 days of biking in and around Porto for us. Filipe was clever enough to initially enquire about our level of biking ability (I wanted to do a rather challenging & long ride to Averio). He did this by asking a few simple questions and based on our interests and responses was able to work with me to create 2 full days of private biking with our own guide. The price quoted also included lunch and a really great meal too at a restaurant with dessert and drinks plus a morning tea stop as well. The price was the best value of any bike tour I have booked, and I have enjoyed over 30 bike rides in 10 countries across Europe, so I know great value when I see it.
Sportours have a range of set group tours you can select from. What we ended up doing was a combination of 2 tours on our first day. We’d booked the Porto by the sea tour but ended up having such a great time out with our wonderful guide Miguel that he tagged on a large portion of the 6 bridges tour and this was such fantastic fun!
Our second day we did a version of the Averio tour. For this tour you would need to be bike fit and able to ride at a reasonable pace for 40 mins without stopping. But this is a beautiful tour and if you wanted to visit Averio by bike I am sure Filipe could create a version with a little less riding but a longer time on the train instead, as the biking around the shabby chic Venice style town of Averio is excellent.
The meeting spot is very convenient and easy to find. There are several cafes you can grab a coffee in on the busy street located about 50m from the shop. We met our guide Miguel at the shop and he brought out 2 excellent bikes. Real bikes, not the sort you normally end up riding when you book bike tours. They had proper gears, suspension - were a hybrid bike. Easy to ride. By end of the day I was jumping up gutters like a pro!. My bike even had a drink bottle holder so I bought a drink bottle that I spied on the shelves to use and then take home as my Porto keepsake. Miquel was thoughtful enough to find tie downs for our bags so we could strap our backpacks securely onto the bikes. As the weather was a bit unpredictable it was great to be able to carry a variety of wind and cool weather gear without issue.
Our Porto by the Sea tour started with a ride thru town then down to the river. This tour was varied with the riding pace and duration. We did some quick stints and later on some slower but longer periods of riding. It was all mainly flat, sometimes busy with people and traffic but other times on bike lanes or just in areas that were very quiet. You would still need to have a reasonable biking ability to do this tour but if you book a private tour then the pace would be quickly adjusted to suit your biking capacity. And it is very affordable to do this. As we could both ride we saw a lot more and covered a much wider area than normal.
We crossed the river in a little boat with our bikes and then rode out to the sea side. The lunch stop is a wonderful local restaurant with beautifully dressed waiters and an awesome old fashioned dessert trolley. We tried the Portuguese national fish dish of cod. The 3 of us shared some green wine – watch this stuff easy to drink and quite potent. Then they wheeled out the magnificent dessert trolley. I tried a local specialty – very similar to a sponge cake with thick custard icing – delicious. All this was included in the tour cost. Honestly I don’t know how Filipe does this for such a great price!
After lunch we jumped back on the bikes and headed in to town. Instead of going direct to the bike shop we zipped off to explore more of Porto (our bonus ride, thank you Miquel). Whilst we’d already had a great day this made the day sensational. We rode over what felt like every tall bridge in town. This was the most fun especially the bridge that has trams crossing it whilst you are riding along those very same tram tracks – bit scary but also unique and special. We scaled windy tracks to reach the highest parts of Porto for some outstanding views. Then finished the day by riding along the very highest of all the bridges that you can see in Porto. We then felt like true Porto locals as we took our bikes back to our apartment for the night as the next day we had an earlier start at the train station for our big day out ending at Averio.
I haven’t mentioned our delightful guide Miquel yet. We spent 2 full days with him and enjoyed his company immensely. The 3 of us really clicked it just felt so comfortable. Miquel is a really articulate, knowledgeable and interesting young man. His English is excellent and he has a great sense of humour which is vital if you are taking a couple of Australians around for a few days. He was quick to figure out the pace of riding we were happy with, and keep it perfectly fixed thru out our 2 days. He was considerate and caring of our comfort and enjoyment and very agreeable with any impromptu stops we wanted to make for a photo or two. We were actually touring around Portugual on our motorbike and whilst we were in Porto we desperately needed a new back tyre before we could ride further. We didn’t quite know how to arrange this ourselves as we don’t speak Portuguese, and only had 24 hrs to sort so I asked Filipe, Sportours owner for some guidance. The kindness and helpfulness shown to us by Filipe and Miquel was heartwarming. So many calls were made on our behalf, so much co-operation, just to help us out. And they made it happen too.
Whilst this was all going on behind the scenes, we were catching a train with Miquel and our bikes out of Porto to a small countryside village , from here we rode thru some woods and out to a remote surfers beach. We rode on a combination of bike lanes and quiet roads. We came upon a pretty town with many bright tiles on most of the homes and meandered around enjoying the views. We rode along raised wooden bike paths near endless kilometers of white sandy beaches, stopping for a snack and coffee at a lovely beach café. Caught a train again (I might have this a bit out of order). Then we finally got to Averio and rode around the canals, enjoying the boats and the town. Porto’s Venice. We had lunch at a restaurant in the warm sun then did some more exploring. The park area was delightful as you are able to ride along the very high pedestrian structures they’ve built to cross the roadways. After we explored every nook of the town we caught a train back to Averio getting out a few kilometers from the bike shop and biking thru some really interesting areas. What a fantastic day! We both had huge smiles on our face all day which is a sure sign I’ve picked an activity we are both genuinely loving.
No matter what type of bike experience you want, Filipe and his company Sportours will deliver a memorable tour for you. If you would like to be treated as an individual and not a number I can confidentially recommend Sportours where they specialize in personal service rather than mass tourism.

Hi Steve!
Thanks for the review!!
You took the only bike without name and you braked the chain! :-)
But that bike is already repared and soon we'll put the name "Conceição" on it.
I'm really happy that you 10 enjoyed the tour and hope to see you soon again!
Warm regards from Porto.

Although I traveled to Porto in the low season (end of November 2019), Filipe was really helpful in finding me a local guide to bring me road cycling. I don't know the region, and in order to be time-efficient, I asked if he could find me a guide. Filipe delivered! He was so helpful and definitely went above and beyond for me. I was able to rent a good quality road bike, which he installed Keo Look pedals for me. He also found me a local cyclist (Joao) who was willing to bring me out for a spin. In all we did 70km and despite the inclement weather, I had a great time. Both Filipe and Joao were really friendly and helpful. I would come back again (maybe when the weather is better) to rent a bike and hire a guide from Sportours.

Hola!!!

Yes, we rent bikes with baby seat or with a trailer.
Child seat is free and can be mounted on a rack.
Baby's/child's weight between 9 and 15kg (19,8 and 33,1 lb).
A bike trailer must be hooked up on the rear bike wheel and has more comfort. It isn't free.
Baby's/child's weight between 20-40kg.
For a reservation, please send us an email!
Warm regards from Porto!
