Mildly entertaining, but would not do again. The two guitarists were quite good, but the female singer , although having a good voice, sang with her eyes closed all the time and did not engage well with the audience. The small room had about 40 people in the audience, so it felt cramped and a little unhealthy so soon after the pandemic.

We found a leaflet a the tourist office and decided to check the place out. The Casa Da Guitarra is a small guitar store where they sell many types of Guitars. If you are lucky the owner (Alfredo) is around, he has a passion for the Porto guitar he builds them and is a great player, we ended up leaving Porto with a new Guitar. The Fado concerts are great to attend too. Definitely worth a visit.

What a great find for music lovers! A real highlight of my trip to Porto. I discovered it by accident and within 30 minutes of entering the shop I'd bought a 'Rajao' - a traditional handmade Portuguese instrument that was one of the ancestors of the ukulele. The staff were very friendly and helpful and even arranged for my instrument to be shipped back to the UK for me.

We picked up a leaflet in the official tourist office near the cathedral and they booked the Fado concert that evening, for us.

It is a shop which has a wide variety of guitars, portuguese guitars and ukele's on display and for sale. It's worth going to see even if there is no Fado.
The shop is not large and they seat about 20 people for the concert, which lasts about an hour, with a short break in the middle for a glass of port.

We enloyed it very much and would be a very good introduction to Fado if you have not heard it before.

Wondered by mistake to this little guitar shop and was invited to an evening of Fado music and warm wine. The singer and Fado players were mesmerising. Don't know alot about guitars but the craftsmenship looked very good on the instruments they sell in the shop.

We were sight seeing around the steep narrow roads and stumbled on the best ever guitar shop.
All hand made Portuguese acoustic instruments. Spanish style guitars, ukuleles and the amazing 12 string Portuguese lute shaped guitars. The enthusiastic shop keeper took numerous instruments down from the stands for us to examine and he demonstrated the wide variety of sounds that could be produced. We were spell bound and could have stayed there all day. We explained that we were travelling and would not be purchasing a guitar he just wanted to share his love for the instruments and the music they can produce.

Just accross from the Catedral, this small guitar store offers Fado concerts. One hour (including a 10 min break for a Porto wine glass included in the price), 10 euros/pers. Two guitar players and one singer. Great place for music lovers!

Owners of this beautiful shop are so kind and hospital. And they are amazingly shy people and never will speak with your first. I strongly recommend to talk with them! They will tell many stories about instruments. Thank you dear owners for being so kind to me, I felt in love with Portugal and especially Porto.

This is the land of Fado, and this is the shop of hand made Portuguese guitars. You can easily spend an hour checking their guitars and talking with the very knowledgeable, hospitable and multilingual manager. Learn about music, traditions and styles.

And buy a guitar.

They hold a Fado session pretty much every afternoon at 6PM. Intimate and up close to the performers.

A great stop away from the crowds.
