Not too much to see. We walked around the exterior but there was no entrance. One large door by the tennis club was closed. Across the street is a small park with public washrooms where the tour buses stop. A nice relaxing place.

Interesting fortress dating back to 1570 (completed in 1647). Contains the church of Sao Joao da Foz do Douro. Typical ramparts, watchtowers, archways and thick stone walls are all present in the construction. There are numerous rusted old cannons lying around. Located on a beautiful spot where the Douro River and the Atlantic Ocean meet. A nice stop if you are cycling the coast/riverfront promenade. There are several beaches and parks in the vicinity as well as cafes and restaurants.

An interesting little old fort in good structure. Not a lot to see inside but as it costs nothing and extends great views worth a walk round if you are close by

This old fortification is a short walk along the coast road from the final stop on the No 1 tram service from the City. Obviously easy to find and free to enter. Has been well preserved. Worth a visit if you aren't just wandering around

This is an old historical Portuguese Fort, looking out to the sea. Sturdily built, and well worth a walk around. Very photogenic.

This was a fairly large fortress. It was on the Atlantic ocean and the Duro River meet. It’s in fairly rough shape nowadays. It has not been well-maintained and there’s almost no infrastructure to support the tourism but did you let you go in and look around in portions of it. It’s worth the hour.

....... located on the sea front just after the Douro river reaches the Atlantic ocean.

A nice place to wander along - an interesting residential area as opposed to a sea front overtly touristy make up.

The fortress is historically relevant and has been effectively maintained.

Worth a visit if you're doing the 'prom' tour !

This is an old fortress and there isn't really much to see, as there is not much that survives. It was built in the late 16th, early 17th centuries, 1570 to 1647. The original purpose was to provide a defence system against enemy attack. It probably did that for a while, but now it's a tourist attraction and it's free for anyone to go inside and just take a look. The views over the ocean are great. Worth a stop if you happen to be in the area.

Originally built at the waters edge the sea has gradually moved the sand to place this old fort some way back.
This fort was the first to be built in a star shape
