Decided to get the bus 500 from the main square in porto. 2 euros 1 way. Quite a pleasant ride along the river takes around 20 minutes. Plenty of walking and seating where the river meets the sea. Not much else but a pleasant change from the hustle and bustle of the city

It´s very beautiful place ! It doesn´t matter if it is summer or winter. Jardim da Foz is a must in Porto. It´s a great boardwalk to walk or even to run. When it´s too hot in the summer in Porto, Jardim da Foz is the palce where you want to be. You can stop by, at the many cafés and restaurants, that you will encounter. Or simply, you can also go to the beach !

It's an easy tram or bus ride from Porto to Foz that is located about 25 mins away.
The tram was €3.50, but you could catch the bus €2. for single tickets. If you take the tram, you may have a bit of a wait as these can get super busy.
With lovely walks and lots of places to eat and drink, I would recommend you pay a visit to this lovely beachside resort.

By bicycle or on foot, this is a very beautiful place to enjoy on hot, windy days. With an associated garden and some strategic shadows, it is also the ideal place for a morning Jogging or muscular relaxation exercises in the late afternoon. If there is the possibility of photographing the fantastic sunset of this paradisiac place, it will remain in memory for many good years. I still remember well the first sunset I saw on the esplanade of Homen do Leme Beach in my childhood. A show that stays beautiful until today.

At first we were a little confused by the name Jardim da Foz because in our way of thinking that instantly told us that we should be looking for some sort or type of gardens. Then we thought that it could be the garden near to the lighthouse Jardim do Passeio Alegre, but eventually discovered that it more or less refers to the promenade walk which commences around the Felgueiras Lighthouse and heads north along the promenade in the direction of Matosinhos to near where the port and oil terminal is.
We covered the majority of the walk over two different days.
On the first occasion we commenced at the northern end of Matosinhos Beach (Porto's main beach), near to the port and oil terminal, and walked a good distance south.
On the second occasion we visited the lighthouse, and then headed north passing many smallish beaches, which all virtually run into each other, and some had cafes. We discovered Foz do Douro, a geological walk, before continuing on to the Pergola da Foz beside another beach, Praia do Molhe.
This really was an enjoyable walk, and there's so many different things to see and look at, whilst enjoying the sea air.
There's different ways of getting there too. The tram, number 1 route, will take you along as far as Foz. The STCP route 500 bus will also take you to Foz, or even as far along as Matosinhos.
My wife and I are peace and quiet seekers, so this was a nice change for us, away from all the hustle and bustle of Porto Centre. Don't get me wrong, we enjoyed Porto Centre too, but it was still nice to enjoy some peace and relaxation, which the walk certainly provided.

Take the tram to Foz and enjoy a pleasant stroll along the sea front. Parrots can be seen in the palm trees. Foz is one of the most beautiful areas in Porto. It has promenades that go for miles.

If you take the historic tram route 1 it ends in Foz and the pleasant gardens are just across the road from the terminus. Although I wouldn't make a special journey they're a pleasant relief from the sun.
Plenty of bars and eateries close by and good local shops too. You also have a couple of nearby beaches to choose from and an extensive promenade if you want to walk or run in complete safety.
