If you are in Porto and want some retail therapy then you should find this street interesting Most Portuguese apartment stores can be found on or in the malls off the street.
Personally I didn’t find it interesting but then I did not primarily come here to shop, but to look at some of the buildings that are along it’s length, and particularly the Cafe Majestic with its wonderful Art Deco decor.
I am not the right person to talk to about the merits of a shopping street as I find no enjoyment from the activity, but my better half had no trouble browsing through shops here. However personally I preferred the much narrower pedestrianised Rua de Cedofeita ( not on Trip Advisor from what I can tell) which is quite a historic street and home now to a lot of independent shops and boutiques as well as plenty of cafes and bars. And interestingly my credit card got more punishment on this street than it did on Rua de Santa Catarina.

Nice street full of shops , cafe restaurants, malls and more.
GPS Igreja de Santo Ildefonso you can't miss this street right next to this church/museum,
the street is packed with people like ants.
It's an entertaining walk, and best thing there is the opportunity to buy bracelets made of Cork.

Rua de Santa Caterina and the surrounding neighborhoods is the most important shopping area in the city. It functions as a pedestrian street and is ideal to take a walk on, not only for the sake of all shops but also because there are some nice sights on it such as Capela das Almas and exquisite Art Nouveau facades such as Café Majestic. It's located in the high part of town and starts at the Praca da Batalha and exteds as faras 1,5km north. There are many good shops on this street but do not miss the beautiful facade and interior of "A perola do Bolhao", an old grocery store located on one of the side streets; Rua Formosa.

A vibrant and beautiful street with nice shops, restaurants, malls... it’s a good place for wandering.
Capela das Almas ( a stunning church with blue coloured tiles on the outside walls ) and the iconic café Majestic are located there.
Nothing really special but if you want to shop, it’s the place to go in Porto.

Every city has such a chick street with a lot of shops, restaurants and for Portugal obviously igrejias (churches). You could feel the atmosphere of the city here. Just have a walk from one side to an other, stop to have a dinner and do small shopping.

Make sure you search for stores you want to visit BEFORE you head out to this wonderful pedestrian only shopping street. Any of Spanish Inditex clothing stores or more traditional sourvenir shops or markerts. Otherwise, you're going to find out later you shouldv'e visited the stores along or around Rua Santa Catarina. Plan out the stores you would like to visit or you have to revisit it. A great shopping district.

This is a must see/do in Porto. An early version of Oxford street but with much more character & less commercial, although it's definitely becoming so.
Beautiful shops in beautiful buildings.
Lots of history.

I adore this street. Great shopping, food, buskers and people watching. All of the little cafes along the street tucked in between great stores and boutique make this street a great way to spend a day. If you need anything from groceries to wine and port to clothes, gifts, baby items, you can pretty much find anything along this street.

Rua Santa Catarina is the place to go if you're looking for shopping and dining opportunities are to just people watch. Cobble block sidewalks, sidewalk cafes, the classic Majestic Cafe, it's all there, Just take a stroll and take it all in. Christmas decorations are going up for the upcoming holiday.

Of all the shopping districts I have been in Europe, this has to be the street with the greatest number of shoe shops. My Portuguese husband tells me leather is good and cheap in Portugal, hence the abundance of leather goods, particularly footwear at very affordable prices. Of course, there are alao many shops selling clothing but I am not into Portuguese fashion trends much. Bought numerous pairs of shoes though. if your feet gets tired, stop by one of the many cafes for a coffee and a pastry.
