Unassuming from the front, attracting a gentle stream of visitors mid weekday morning, probably at most ten inside at any time and no more than one or two choosing to sit. Impressive baroque gilded and busy but well done interior with much detail and a...More

I like this church because it is totally Porto. Just the right amount of gold baroque, also bright inside so you can see the detail. And there are tiles inside & out. All on a backdrop of the traditional portuguese white & granite masonry.

Igreja Paroquial de San Nicolau is located just opposite to the Sao Francisco church. The church is of a much smaller size but the white and blue tiled external facade still attracted passers-by. It is nice to enter the internal area and view the alters...More

Due to the fact that it's located across the street from the Sao Francisco church. It has a lovely tiled exterior. I wasn't able to go inside but the exterior is worth a look.

This is a small church with several beautiful altars and some interesting sculpture. Take time to view the side chapels where some of the most interesting sculptures reside. The exterior is currently undergoing restoration, so access can be limited.

Located Nextdoor to our apartment, this small church is undergoing exterior restoration. Tonight as we walked by, it was open and we took the opportunity to visit. The interior is beautiful. Tonight there was music playing softly. The baroque alter carvings are gilded.

I love blue and white glazed tiles, azulejos, so the facade of Igreja de S. Nicolau was another treat for me. Unfortunately, the church was closed at the time of our visit but I was happy to enjoy the lovely facade of this small church.

Based on photos posted of the inside of this small church, I had hoped to be able to get access but unfortunately it was closed on both occasions that we tried over two days before leaving Porto. Maybe we'll be lucky on our next visit?

This small church has a beautiful blue tiled facade and the interior is quite lovely too. It is located just across the street from the Bolsa Palace towards the river.
