The Igreja de São Nicolau, built in 1671 to replace a medieval chapel, features a façade with blue and white azulejos from 1860. The interior has a single nave with a rococo-style altarpiece by Manuel de Jesus Monteiro. The sacristy houses works of art and jewellery, including a 16th-century silver cup and a silver-gilt chalice by Domingos Sousa Coelho. The church also contains a statue of Santo Elói, patron saint of metalworkers.

I passed by this nice little church while strolling in the city. I ignored it at first as it looks just any other church around but somehow it was inviting. The interior of the church is really nice and because it was empty the place is more tranquil. Perfect for those who want to pray or those who just want some peace and quiet. I was glad I checked it!

Walked past this little gem on way to the river . Blue ornate tiled exterior. May not look big but this place has beautiful interior.

This is a small and easy to visit place. I wouldn’t be classifying to the top of the list of must do in Porto, but… if you are passing by why not.

Igreja Paroquial de San Nicolau is located just opposite to the Sao Francisco church. The church is of a much smaller size but the white and blue tiled external facade still attracted passers-by. It is nice to enter the internal area and view the alters and sculptures thereat.

This is a small church with several beautiful altars and some interesting sculpture. Take time to view the side chapels where some of the most interesting sculptures reside.
The exterior is currently undergoing restoration, so access can be limited.

I love blue and white glazed tiles, azulejos, so the facade of Igreja de S. Nicolau was another treat for me. Unfortunately, the church was closed at the time of our visit but I was happy to enjoy the lovely facade of this small church.

A church located close to the Palace of Bolsa. We went in for a quick peek on the way towards the river.
