Even on a relatively calm day the strength of the sea can be seen beating against this old lighthouse: exhilarating and with great potential to get wet as the sea water splashes over the wall

The sun was setting quietly with a thin veil of clouds shielding the harsh light. Waves from the Atlantic Ocean were breaking at regular intervals and almost covering the lighthouse. Hardy souls braved the warning signs to take their pics at the base of the...More

Great walk by the river Douro to its estuary. A tram ride is also exciting (historic tram, line 1, ticket 2.5 euros). You can just sit there and listen to the sound of the waves. Enjoy the fresh smell of the sea, the air filled...More

The lighthouse seems quite small, but you can walk all the way up to it and experience the beauty of waves crushing into it. Even in good weather, be prepared for a few drops getting you!
