My husband and I used Detours 2 years ago for this same trip and we were so impressed I used them again for the same trip, but this time with my mum. Our guide, Kevin, was knowledgeable, passionate about his country and the day felt so relaxed with him. He picked us up as scheduled and drove us to a place called Arouca, where we had a coffee and the different local pastries were explained to us. We were then driven to the start of the Paiva walkways, where Kevin then left us and advised he would meet us halfway. This was great as it allows you to explore in your own time. The walk is spectacular - the scenery is a feast for the senses at every moment. It took around 4 hours in total, at an easy pace. We were then taken to a nearby restaurant, where we had the most amazing sweet pepper jam with goats cheese, steak and then 3 different desserts to try. The owners are so friendly and proud of their local produce. We were then driven back to Porto and arrived back around 6pm. I can't recommend this day or Detours enough. The groups are always compact, the guides are wonderful (Diogo had remembered me from last time when we bumped into him) and we will definitely use Detours again. I can't believe we only did this walk last week, before the corona virus shut the world down. Days like this are therefore to treasure and once this is all over we'll be back to Porto and plan on doing the 4x4 Douro trip. Keep up the great work Detours and a special thank you to Kevin and Diogo.

It was typical autumn weather when I visited Peneda Jeres national park. Although the weather wasn't great the views were fantastic. The guide really did his best to give us an enjoyable experience despite the rain. Instead of the picnic lunch (it was just too wet to do it outside) we were taken to a small restaurant for an excellent lunch. After lunch the weather cleared up and we could walk around a bit and we were shown a very old wolf pit. We encountered the local goats with their goat herds and even some wild cows.
All in all this was a lovely experience.

A few friends and I went on the Detours food tour in Porto and had a lovely time. Our guide, Mario, personalized the menu based on our somewhat eclectic dietary preferences. Everything was delicious, and we had probably the best sandwich I’ve had in years (maybe decades) on this tour.

We liked that we were able to take the tour as a small group without a bunch of other people added on.

We also got to see some noteworthy sites in the city and our guide gave us a lot of suggestions for things to do after the tour to enjoy our time in the city.

A very good value, in my opinion, and I’d certainly do it again.

We had a wonderful, fun walking tour of Porto with Diogo. He is an excellent guide, and seeing the sights of the city with him enriched our experience so much. The tour was well-paced, and we were pleased by how much of the city we were able to see in just a few hours. He showed us the major attractions, and he also took us to see street art, an old medieval neighborhood, parks, and special viewpoints overlooking the city. He did such a great job showing us around and explaining everything. We stopped at two different restaurants, where he ordered us some typical dishes and wine, and everything was very delicious. It was a great day and one of the highlights of Porto for us. We highly recommend Diogo as a tour guide.

The 2 days we spent with Diogo from Detours was a high point in our spectacular visit to the Porto Region.

Our private Day in the Douro was filled with beautiful scenery, insightful explanations and unique experiences. Our favorite part was the private boat ride; however, the stunning picnic was a close 2nd. It was a such a special way to spend our first full day.

On the next day, we did Secrets of Porto. We visited charming streets that I am certain we would not have found on our own. By the end of the day, we had a better understanding of the city and we were able to navigate the streets independently and comfortably for the remainder of stay.

Detours was a delight to work with. They have fabulous attention to detail and think ahead with little extras. We would not hesitate to book with them again and in fact, we hope that we will be back in Porto very soon to do just that.

We were fortunate to have what turned out to be a private tour of Old Porto with our guide Ricardo. The weather was wet and windy at times but the experience was still excellent. Ricardo took us through walkways, stairs and areas mostly used by locals. His knowledge and love of his city was impressive. He gave us a well rounded explanation behind many of Porto’s historic buildings and neighbourhoods. It was a truly intimate experience with a friendly, down to earth guide sharing much of the history of the city he loves so much. I would definitely recommend this tour and if you are fortunate enough to have Ricardo as your guide it will be a few hours well spent.

Our walking tour of Porto with DeTours was a great introduction to the beautiful city and it's hidden gems. Our experienced and friendly guide, Diogo, was very knowledgeable of Porto and Portuguese history and recommended some great places to visit and eat on the rest of our journey in Portugal. We would definately recommend DeTours to all travellers.

Our guide Carlota was so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful! Although we covered lots of kilometers, she was able to move our small group efficiently from place to place, providing outstanding historical, cultural and architectural information as we went. It was truly a pleasure to learn about and see so much of Porto. Absolutely enjoyable!

We were picked up in Porto by Ricardo for a private 1 day tour of the beautiful Douro Valley. Including visiting the Pinhao Train station, a scenic boat ride on the river with a beautiful explanation of the valley wine making life and the great story of Portugal's Douro hero Rita Ferreira Marques. We then drove through winding, twisting switchbacks up, up, up to the beautiful Fonte Nova restaurant perched above the valley with a scenic view while we ate an authentic Portuguese regional almoço. It was so cloudy that we could see nothing but with perfect timing the cloud and fog lifted during lunch to provide a story book view of terraced vineyards in the valley below. After lunch we went up, up and up more, to the secret, best lookout of the river valley which Ricardo learned of as a child. It was amazing. Our day was capped by wine tasting at Quinta Seara d'Ordens winery owned by the family from 1792. We had a tour of the warehouse and kegging followed by a tasting of exquisite reds, 1 white and some incredible Port according to our preference. After a long day Ricardo dropped us happy to our Hotel door. It was clear that Ricardo loves Portugal and is very happy to share it with visitors. Thank you so much Ricardo for a wonderful, thoughtful and magic visit to Douro!

Ricardo took our group on a day trip into the Duoro valley to sample some of the regional produce and have a traditional lunch at a local restaurant. What a great day out!! We met the winemakers, tasted wine and port, feasted over lunch and enjoyed ourselves very much. Thank you!
